[–] NannerBanner@literature.cafe 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You guys aren't using noscript and blocking the analytics script from even running?

[–] Anafabula@discuss.tchncs.de 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

uBlock origin blocks it from even downloading, so it can't even try to run

[–] NannerBanner@literature.cafe 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Mate, I have ublock origin, and the website still tries to run google analytics.

[–] lazynooblet@lazysoci.al 5 points 2 days ago

But can't...

[–] pewpew@feddit.it 1 points 1 day ago

Oh I am, I was just worried that the webstite I was visiting would still make tracking cookies. Probably the best option is Ublock + incognito mode

Ooh, a printer friendly version! Let me just go ahead and print that bad boy out!

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I framed mine

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

My gosh, it's so rare I have a chance to use my printer, thanks for sharing. 🤣

So the website no longer tracks you, but the add-on tracks on which websites you've been?

[–] voidsignal@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Yep. It's google. It's cancer

[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 days ago

Isn't a GDPR requirement opt-in by default?

[–] DrunkAnRoot@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago

or disable js in your browser settings

No you don't? Just block it with uBlock, which you need to make the web usable in the first place.

[–] officermike@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Technically uBlock is still an extension.

If you really wanted to block Google analytics without installing an extension, it could presumably be done via hosts file edits or with a custom DNS server.

[–] Luminous5481@anarchist.nexus 2 points 2 days ago

Technically uBlock is still an extension.

yes, and it's an extension that anyone using the fediverse almost certainly already has installed.

[–] hemmetti@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Google is bullshit.

and that extension is called ublock origin
