Party funding must flow, I guess.
This is what comes of citizens united. That seems to me to have been the death knell of the American system, and we dont know how to fix it at this point. Zionists, Russians, and the wealthy leveraging it all came after.

we seem to be a zombie state hoping a superman/woman will drop in (despite our two party electoral system being as sick and twisted as the rest of government) and fix the system with pure vibes despite all the power structures now all laid in direct opposition to any healthy change in our government-by-payola setup.

How the eff do we fix this?

Easy. Vote blue no matter who. Then primary the party further left. That's the only workable solution. If anyone tells you otherwise, ask them on which planet their solution works. You think NYC could have gone straight from Giuliani to Mamdani? Fuhgeddaboudit.

I will never again simply vote blue no matter who. You game the progressives, we will just game you back 10x. Its only fair. and dont play chicken with us, you will 100% lose. I am a lot more interested in just burning it all down than you centrist zionist-check-cashers are. I voted blue no matter who for my whole life and all I've gotten from the centrists is a constant belittling, locked out of everything, backstabbed, lied to, and called names.

One thing you "vote blue no matter who" people fail to understand is that the reason republicans hate the dems so much is not that they strongly beleive in the issues they draw their battle lines on, but that they hate the way dem centrists belittle them, and they hate how the economy has made their future hopeless while lecturing them about how much they suck-- you know, the same arrogance that led you to post your comment. Right wingers may feel some affinity for the issues too, but the issues are essentially just battlegrounds. Slapping dems in the face is their actual point they want to win on. The cruelty is always 99% of the point with them. They will even happily hurt their own or themselves, as long as it primarily hurts those they hate.

Now the idiot centrists have lost the left flank of their base doing the same thing. Centrists need to realize that if you dont approach people with at least some feigned interest and feigned respect and listen to them, that they will not come to your table, and you will ultimately be powerless. Learn how to be in a coalition and how to negotiate, or effing fail, centrists. You cant win over trump-fatigued republicans either if you keep calling them names and rubbing their noses in shit.

You centrists keep sitting there thinking the voters will just come back to you through trump fatigue-- while you keep using the exact same playbook you have been, but polling shows the voters hate dems centrists even more than they hate trump-- still.

You called me a centrist, but I'm really a progressive with a brain. We have the same goals. I'm the only one who presented a realistic way of reaching them.

All you got from voting blue no matter who was universal healthcare, gay rights, sanctions on settlers, emissions reductions, banking regulations, etc. By continuing to vote blue no matter who, all you would have gotten was the public option (single payer), continued emissions reductions via cap and trade or carbon tax, universal childcare, progress towards the two state solution (via follow through on the Oslo Accords instead of Iraqi shenanigans), trans rights, etc. All you got by burning everything down was faster genocide, removing healthcare subsidies, more oil dependence, removal of black and minority history from national parks, the Iran war, mass removal of legal status followed by deportation, etc. Even if you aren't directly harmed because you're sitting in a position of privilege, burning everything down has real and immediate consequences for the people you claim you want to help, me among them.

You say you're not a conservative or a Russian bot, but if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.... Now if you'd like to debate what actually works instead of throwing innuendo around, be my guest. I'll watch your reply.

yeah, I know. I already dont vote for them. And I protest and hold the line in as many tiny-feeling ways as I can without obsessing.

I think you know that I like your posts so, with respect-- when they offer us republican or republican-lite in that next election, what then? Theres a real possibility we'll be voting on Newsom or Pritzker vs Trump-- more zionist hirelings incoming who dont care about us -- although even that slight improvement is years away. And if you compare Harris and Biden to almost every dem since Carter, the trend in the democratic party is not looking like a pendulum-- its more a slower march to the right than the repubs. I dont think Pritzker or Newsom will deviate from the pattern. Just drag out the inevitable.

So every year it seems like the smart money was on running from this place while Americans are still somewhat welcome elsewhere and while my little stash of USD papers are worth something, but I also hate that idea.

Getting involved with DSA to promote a meaningful opposition is the best we can currently do at the moment, imo. Internal opposition by promoting socialist candidates and external opposition in the form of protests (ideally labor strikes, but labor organizing isn't really there yet) are both needed for force their hands to capitulate to their voter base

Strongly disagree, DSA does far more than simply electoral politics. They're also decentralized. Chapters don't follow any centralized DSA message, each operate independently as organized by their local members. When it comes to electing candidates, chapters independently determine what policies are needed for their endorsement and they also hold those candidates accountable outside the DNC. Candidates run on the D ticket because that's the reality of US politics. In both local and national politics, they have forced political bodies to move their politics to the left, to be accountable to their constituents instead of simply donors. You may not like that they've moved those political bodies as much left or as fast as you prefer, sure. But that's also only a single avenue of pressure. Each DSA chapter is only as bold as it's members. And that's only recently grown in resurgence. Before the last 2 campaign cycles, the DSA was a fraction of the size (and it's still very small) it was, and mostly comprised of old heads. I'm not surprised if the majority of old heads were/are liberal Zionists. But that's far from the truth for the new wave of members, which now outnumber the old heads.

And it's not like there's also PSL. Both play important roles, as do many other liberation organizations and advocacy groups. It's a United front of coalitions that are needed to push the envelope in as many ways as possible.

Democrats feel safe to continue their course because most of the US "left" refused to work on building an alternative and abandoning them in 2024. Third parties got even less percentage of the vote than before.

Abandoning the Democrats is the only option. Look at Zohran and AOC caving to power at every opportunity. Mamdani had to drop support for challenger to Hakeem Jeffries because we can't have people actually challenging power! (Democracy btw)

Even Pelosi used to be known as a "progressive" when she started.

He just said on a podcast that he doesn’t think we should stop at getting rid of aipac, but also get all corp money out of politics.

In that same thing he said netty has done awful things and is worse than Trump, that he should be held accountable in court.

I think there’s legal reasons to avoid calling Someone a War Criminal before they’ve been tried.
