Is that a modded screen? I don't remember my GBC having anywhere near that much backlight

The original GBC didn't have anything of a backlight. Although the earlier Gameboy Light was the first Nintendo handheld to have a backlight, the feature wasn't standardized until the GBA SP.

The original SP had a front light. The second iteration was backlit though.

It is :) did an amoled screen mod on it and swapped out the red led for an amber one

Ya that's modded.

Been thinking of doing it to mine but I'd rather keep it og. Just have to play under lamps 😁

wow, I'm just learning Evoli (& Pyroli, Mentali, Noctali, Voltali, Nymphali...) aren't the original names. my mind is blown

[–] zarenki@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Only the French version uses those names. English has Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon. Japanese can be considered the original names, which are (when written in latin letters) Eievui, Showers, Thunders, Booster, Eifie, Blacky, Leafia, Glacia, and Nymphia.

German, Korean, and Chinese each have different names for them and most other Pokémon too. Other languages like Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese use the same names as English.

FWIW, Eevee is basically Eevee in Japanese (aka., E.V.).

But ouch..."Blacky" the Pokemon, eh?

[–] wieson@feddit.org 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Evoli in German too !
Flamara, Psiana, Nachtara, Blitza, Aquana

[–] Nikls94@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The fact that you didn’t put them in Pokédex order gibt meinem inneren Monk Schnappatmung.

Evoli, Aquana, Blitza, Flamara, Psiana, Nachtara, Folipurba, Glaziola, Feelinara ☝️🤓

Hab ich nur gemacht damit unser Franzose hier den Zusammenhang besser erkennt

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

no, you need to give them cute names!

[–] twotonebax@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Some day maybe x3 goal is to evolve them

[–] pjwestin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

In my opinion, one too many Eevees. Vaporeon, Jolteon, Umbreon, and Espeon are solid choices, but you don't need two fire types, and Flareon sucks ass. Not worth wasting your one fire stone on him.

Working on it haha
