Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Aaaaaaaand yet another thing Americans do nothing about.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 3 points 3 hours ago

These bills are the first to fuel the fireplace during the Greater Depression.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Makes me glad I almost never handle cash then.

Though if I do wind up with money with his name scrawled on it I'm gonna take it somewhere to trade it in with some nice, elaborate (but polite) commentary on the Orange graffiti.

[–] baguettefish@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

real graffiti can be really nice and expressive art

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 0 points 3 hours ago

It can be but it's usually just some dipshit scrawling his name on things.

[–] MrSulu@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 hours ago

It is so tragice for our US cousins that they have a spoiled and soiled baby in the Whitehouse.

I'd like to think they won't do this (to the rest of the world) again, but he is already in his second term saying that he will be here for longer.

The world must move away from the Dollar for its own safety.

[–] Mangoholic@lemmy.ml 7 points 6 hours ago

A pedo stamp on every bill. They really want to lose reserve currency status quickly.

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Money shouldn't have anyone's signature. Such ugly vanity should be illegal.

[–] pupbiru@aussie.zone 3 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (3 children)

australia’s notes all have tiny signatures of the governor of the reserve bank, and the secretary to the treasury and have for at least as long as i can remember… i don’t think it’s a vanity thing in that case

[–] jwt@programming.dev 1 points 1 hour ago

US also puts the signature of the Secretary of Treasury on it. This was Jacob Lew's:

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 hour ago

US bills already have the signature of the Treasury Secretary

[–] Aussiemandeus@aussie.zone 2 points 7 hours ago

Yeah i was just thinking this,

Other fun facts there's the poem from a man from snowy River on our 10 dollar note

[–] JailElonMusk@sopuli.xyz 140 points 13 hours ago (18 children)

I'm impressed at their creativity in devaluing the dollar in a new way every day!

[–] hanrahan@slrpnk.net 3 points 10 hours ago

[–] Aussiemandeus@aussie.zone 5 points 8 hours ago

U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach said in a statement that printing Trump’s signature on the American currency “is not only appropriate, but also well deserved.”

The exact opposite of this is true.

[–] MuffinPenguin@piefed.blahaj.zone 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

The exact opposite of this is true.

Wait, are you saying that U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach didn't say this or that it isn't appropriate or well-deserved? /serious

[–] unmagical@lemmy.ml 2 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

I was claiming that the treasurer lied.

Oh okay. Thanks. ^_^

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 72 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (2 children)

What a great way to ensure all money is defaced and will cost extra to constantly reissue it.

I will be sure to write child fucker under his name on every note I see.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 11 points 11 hours ago

Oh yeah, I'm going to vandalize every one that goes through my hands. Traitor, Pedophile, rapist, draw a dick in mouth, coming on his face, etc. And I'm going to take photos of any good I see before passing them along.

At first I was pissed about it, but now I'm going to have fun.

[–] uberdroog@lemmy.world 20 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

How long before the first person dies because the cops try and arrest someone who defaced one.

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

If that’s the case it better be the cop.

This must be how they plan to sell America on crypto.

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 14 points 11 hours ago

I will redact his name on every one I get.

Stock market tip: BUY stock in sharpies.

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 26 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Pretty sure its illegal but its less illegal than his face on it.

[–] flabbergast@lemmy.world 13 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

"Illegal" never stopped him...

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 10 points 12 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

You'd be surprised, the courts blocked most of his federal worker firings from DOGE and forced him to renew funding to Medicaid, SNAP, and other federal programs. They've shut down ICE camps before, lots of ongoing cases such as U.S. District Judge Zahid N. Quraishi refusing to even hear the DOJ's case for DHS detaining without warrants or hearings unless all 3 highest level DOJ officers testify under oath.

There has been a lot of capitulation by the courts to the Trump Admin, we haven't been able to prevent ICE building camps for the most part and we weren't able to save USAID, but there has been a lot of resistance as well and I don't think enough credit is given for that.

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

Oh I’m sure they’ll rule it illegal 10 years from now, once those damn bills are circulating everywhere.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 4 points 9 hours ago

That's one way to destroy the cash economy...

[–] Gerudo@lemmy.zip 9 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Just begging to be defaced.

I might go all in on contactless payment.

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 11 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Capitulation to the techbros in advance

Yes, never forget that those fuckers are in on this too.

In every fascist system, the capitalist elite always buddy up to the ones in power because to not do so threatens that capital and, thus, their wealth.

[–] curbstickle@anarchist.nexus 4 points 12 hours ago

I'm thinking gold and those colorful European dollarydoos.

Better not use an autopen!

[–] WatDabney@sopuli.xyz 8 points 13 hours ago (3 children)

So this makes me wonder about legends of demonic possession.

In a sense, it could be said that Donald Trump is not President of the United States, because Donald Trump in a sense doesn't even exist as an individual. Instead, he's essentially a vehicle for his gargantuan ego. He's really just a sort of mindless zombie, lurching from one thing to another as his ego dictates.

Which makes me wonder if that was really the way he would've been seen in a more primitive past - as if the person who should be inside of him had somehow been pushed aside and he was possessed by a ravening demon. And if that's the way that other delusional egomaniacs like him were seen in the past.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 hour ago

This gave me vibes of that recent show "Evil" except it's set in modern times

[–] voidsignal@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

nah. he's just a poor sad old half dead pedo motherfucker
