My family of origin is within 50 feet of me like most of the time when they're at home... like every moment when they're not busy with stuff.

Spend time? Idk.

I don't speak Cantonese good enough to express my feelings... too depressed to learn... mom doesn't really understand English that much and she sounds awkward af with a weird accent so nah...

Mom want to "chat with me" but like...

No clue how to even talk to them in a way they underatand...

They scroll WeChat during their free time and watch tv

I just watch my own stuff on a laptop...

So yeah...

My mom would hug me, then be like: "so when can you start acting normal?"

How did you grow up without learning your family’s native language? Did you all never communicate..?

Their phone addiction plus lack of emotional communication sounds like classic mainland last generation to me. I’m raining my child speaking more than just English and working hard to give them a leg up. I can understand how difficult it may be!

Sorry you feel sad.

I can talk like a 2nd grader...

2nd grader vocabulary

Like it takes a bunch of time for brain to come up with words... and its hard to come up with complete sentences when I have depression and anxiety so I just stutter all the time

So I can't really express feelings and depression and stuff...

I see you, I see your pain. I am sorry your days are hard. Keep on keeping on, friend. Things will get better, or they wont. But keeping your focus on what your doing and what you want is key. Cheers.

Every day. We do basically everything together, including going to the bathroom. Except when I'm working, there I am without family.

Yes, when I ask my toddler for space or privacy in the bathroom they often come right up and hug my leg. Like a cat but much more invasive lol

Which part of my family? Parents and in laws when we can. Maybe 1-10 times a year. Cousins only at big events. Partner and I try to watch a show together or have sex once a day or so. After that I do my own thing before bed.

I see my mom maybe once or twice a week. I really love her but I live kinda far from her. I wish I could visit her more often but my work doesn't allow me to.

I see my sister almost everyday. She and her BF used to live at my house for like a year and now they live in the house next door. Sometimes my GF, sis and her BF we dine, drink and see movies together and is really fun

I don’t spend any time with them. I just go to work and live alone.

I live with my husband and twin so I'm seeing them every day. My mother I see occasionally but probably not enough. She travels a fair deal so I'm never quite sure when she's nearby. Sometimes it's for holidays or dinner so probably eating is what we do.

at least once a month

generally dinners, weekend meetups, birthdays, random questions over the phone

watch sports, chat about current event, talk about other family, health, plans for the future.

Not as much time as I'd like. We talk, eat food, puzzles, board games, hunt, fish, watch TV/Movies. If I'm around the nephews and nieces we might play video games.
