The US consistently ranks among the most charitable countries in the world, being #1 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2019.

The poll essentially asks people if they see themselves as charitable. The burger reich is the most charitable country in the world based on asking burgerlanders if they think they're good people.

Even if we took this at base value, if we assumed that average Americans donate more of their discretionary income than other countries, I don't understand how this makes America look good.

The fact that there are so many gaps in our safety net that the slack has to be taken up by countless charitable organizations, instead of a more efficient and centrally managed system, does not fill me with patriotic pride. That so many of my fellow citizens need assistance, is already a huge indication that our society is deeply broken.

Perhaps instead of bragging about how many cans of expired corn the average American donates to a food bank, We should instead have a society where people don't go hungry. Perhaps, the countries that report being less charitable, don't see homeless people at every stoplight begging for scraps. Perhaps in some of these other countries there's less need for charities, because people aren't routinely bankrupted thanks to an ambulance ride.

The truth of the matter is that the average American is not charitable, and the average is inflated by a handful of super rich people who think giving a quarter of a million dollars to AIPAC counts as a charity.

They'll raze your country to the ground then send record breaking amounts of corn

other countries wish they treated disabled people as well as America

MAYBE THE REST OF US COULD GET TO THAT POINT IF YOU STOPPED FUCKING BOMBING AND EXPLOITING AND KILLING US?????????????????

The Christians in my country are some of the most rancid Islamophobes, queerphobes, misogynists, racists, anti-abortion motherfuckers ALL BECAUSE YOUR FUCKING BIBLE THUMPING CHRISTOFASH MISSIONARIES CAME HERE AND COLONIZED OUR CULTURE and they CERTAINLY aren't much better on disability rights after converting to Christianity

Fuck these people fuck these people god fucking damn holy shit. None of them, absolutely fucking NONE OF THEM will ever live to experience the consequences their shitty ancestors brought to our lands and our people, and then they have the gall to say this chauvinistic, smug NONSENSE. I wish for unlimited [REDACTED] on all of these scumbags good lord I am so pissed

I would probably say your movie and tv show industry, im not going to comment on the the actual conditions for writers, actors, people who work in the industry (out of my expertise), the output is pretty amazing. No other country has produces the sheer content and quality of media you do.

so-true Have you considered the freaking treats tho?

Man, I despise most of the commenters there. Most propagandized people on earth who seriously believe the US has some unique innate FrEeDoM to it.

An American socialist revolution will require the most comprehensive reeducation program in human history

yes we're a horrible empire of death and exploitation run by supremacist pedophiles... but have you considered one town in Texas has rainbow sidewalks?

The only good Americans are anti-American.

[–] ZeroHora@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 day ago

You know the meme "Are we the baddies"? This moment of realization will never come to the average American, just burn it all down.

you have to be deeply sick to be proud of that nation

We are #1 at eating shit and dying.

Nobody eats shit like we do. Nobody does mass death like we do. Nobody loves it like we do.
