For sad/depressing songs it depends on whether I'm voluntarily indulging in some existential angst or genuinely trying to cope with sad shit I've been subjected to. For the former it's Tom Waits - Tango Til They're Sore. For the latter it's Pinback - Autumn of the Seraphs.

As for depressing songs there’s a song about addiction called “For Marlon” about heroin addiction and it’s extremely raw, cuts right into me, by a singer named Soko. I can’t mention it without also mentioning her song “Been Alone Too Long” which is also depressing and beautiful but a little more hopeful.
