Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

One thing I'm honestly surprised by is that we don't see a lot more of donnie effigies being burned at protests.

This guy is just such a fucking dirtbag.

I was told that it was illegal for coins in the Untied States to depict a living person

[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

As always...

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 11 points 3 days ago

Well, if it's a law then I suppose there's only one option.

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

Laws are enforced by people. If people don't enforce them, they cease to exist.

As always, fuck this timeline.

Needs an engraving stamp reading "Not Legal Currency".

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

His victims weren’t legal either.

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago

Still illegal no matter what the arts commission yes men say.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 days ago

Can't wait for the upcoming chaos when tens of millions of people are told that the coins they got as change during the preceding years are no longer legal tender because the Supreme Court finally rules on it.

Arts Commission Commits Anti-Art

What a disgusting waste of gold

Should have used gold leaf over Ea-Nasir copper to artistically convey the rot within

Could you fucking imagine the uproar if a democrat did this. If Harris had won and put her face on US currency? They wouldn't be able to fucking cope. They'd be collecting and melting the coins down. Such blatant sycophants, hypocrites and fascists. Fuck me.

Usually US issued coins carry a small premium over scrap gold. It would be a public service for someone to acquire theses coins after they are issued, melt them back to regular gold and sell them a regular gold bullion.

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Can we request the bullion is stamped with the face of Obama or something like that, just to really get an aneurysm brewing

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

we don't need artificial demand for them.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

We don’t need them at all. Every single one of them I come across I’m bending in half and throwing it away.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 3 days ago

xactly. let them sit in the gov warehouses. its a commemorative coin so will not go to circulation.

Is money that breaks the law by design still legal tender?

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

How can we commemorate him if he's not even dead yet?

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Not with that attitude, we can’t.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Cashier: “your total is 75 Donny’s and 18 Kirk’s.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)
