AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
I already have a personal policy of not using any tool written in Node.js unless absolutely necessary. I don't want that behemoth on my system, nor the supply-chain attack surface its package ecosystem brings with it.
If I see a project that looks neat, but is done with Node.js, I immediately look for alternative implementations in other languages. Yeah I'm a snob but so far it's worked out well.
it would be very funny if nodejs ends up having a more sensible AI policy than systemd and KDE
The chaos gremlin inside me wants it to be merged so that Node.js crashes a chunk of the Internet and it'll be like another left pad incident.
AI or not, anyone can just fuck right off with an 18kloc pull request.
