"As revolutionaries, we don't have the right to say that we're tired of explaining. We must never stop explaining. We also know that when the people understand, they cannot but follow us. In any case, we, the people, have no enemies when it comes to peoples. Our only enemies are the imperialist regimes and organizations." Thomas Sankara, 1985

prof. Jiang Xueqin is a total crank and anti-communist, no wonder he's the youtube algorithm superstar.

His geopolitical videos popped up on my feed last week. Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, so did his earlier pseudo-scientific videos.

It was strange, YouTube pushed all the videos from all his different channels despite me having clicked "Stop recommending me this channel" multiple times.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago

i think the algo reacts better if you report the video as hateful or abusive. i dont really get channels recommended to me after i've done that.

[–] Coco0330@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I already watched the first video and he also said something like “the Bolsheviks were funded by walls street” I’m not kidding or joking.

[–] ComradeSalad@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He's a Neo-nazi and Holocaust denier, he unironically believes in the Judeo-bolsheivik conspiracy theory. When he says "Wall Street" he means Jews.

Could you link a stray from all? I'm not disagreeing with you, this is just my first encounter with him and am curious.

[–] burlemarx@lemmygrad.ml 10 points 1 day ago

Sorry for posting his content here earlier, I should have done more research before doing it. I think his analysis of the Iran-US war was good and on par with other analysts in the International relations field. However when he gets to speak about religion, Marxism, history and secret societies then he gets really in batshit crazy territory. All the stuff he says about Marx and dialectics is not only wrong but diving in conspiracy theory territory.

Chinese Ancient Aliens?

Every time that man's face starts appearing back on youtube recommendations for me (and he shows up in so many fucking different channels) I know I gotta reset the "don't suggest this type of content" thingie again. Because for some reason Google thinks I might be open to wanting to see that ~~crap~~ unserious clownery on par with zizek after telling them for the nth time in like the last 6?+ months that I'm not interested.

[–] Coco0330@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 day ago

Already watched the first video to basically give a sum up and TLDR this guy is basically a pseudo historian and someone with a lot of dumb takes.

[–] funky_tomatoe@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Listened to him when he was on Danny Haiphong's show recently and this guy start yapping about the freemasons being a significant driver of the Iran war or something. Felt like a fever dream, the guy is a complete nutjob

[–] cenarius@lemmygrad.ml 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

All those talk shows fit the descriptions of CIA ops to scramble people who gravitate towards different ideologies or interests while uniting them on key premises. Haiphong's Telegram mods have long banned people who argue with their pet fascists.

Rania Khalek and Vijay Prashad are awesome. Yanis is a lib.

[–] Ronin_5@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 2 days ago

I’m really glad that others are seeing him for what he is.

[–] Chezeng@lemmygrad.ml 21 points 2 days ago (3 children)

He is also a Holocaust and Evolution denier. Do you see how many people hang on to his every word like it's gold? Jiang preys on people who cannot think critically...and there are too many of them.

He's one giant confirmation bias crossed with a scam artist. He picks the minority side on the most controversial topics and makes up a bunch of sophistries to support it. So if you are looking for someone you want to agree with, you stumble on this guy. He knows how to pace his insanity to make it sound convincing. He'll start off grounded and sounding like a normal academic, and as time goes by he'll start getting more and more into the bullshit. But he worked on your defenses early on, and so now you just find yourself keep agreeing with him.

I've sat through one of his interviews recently, out of curiosity mostly. It was an incredible ride to say the least:

  • Started with how the US is getting beat by Iran

  • Went on to talk about corruption in US politics

  • Talked about AI being used as a tool to accelerate global warming and control the population/gather data.

  • Predicted that in 5 years everyone will die as we run out of food since everybody works on AI jobs instead of farming.

  • Started saying how Epstein was just a member of a larger cabal of cultists intend on bringing the end of the world because that will make them profits

  • Talked about Zionist and Christian eschatology and how the rich and powerful are all in a cult, taking part in satanic rituals and corruption to create a sense of community among themselves

  • We are not going to die after all, because people will rise up in revolt and countries will either turn into theocracies, or fascist ethnostates, or ultranationalist peace lovers. Somehow this will save the world because it's the only way to care about humanity and make enough food.

I mean tbf many of us communists rely WAY too much on the notion that all human beings are currently capable of rational critical thought -- nah you gotta actually put effort into that and anti-intellectualism is currently winning. Unless you work as an educator you likely aren't aware just how low functioning western countries actually are.

Frankly, a great approach we can take is learning the techniques of special educators to make education approachable for as many as possible by meeting people where they are at.

[–] Saymaz@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He is on every radlib/SocDem media outlet nowadays.

[–] Chezeng@lemmygrad.ml 11 points 2 days ago (2 children)

He's been on George Galloway's show, Due Dissidence, Gita Wirjawan, Jimmy Dore, and twice on Danny Haiphong's. I'm so disappointed.

[–] cornishon@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 2 days ago

The consequences of chasing the algorithm and not vetting the guests.

[–] Saymaz@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Expected from Danny Haiphong and Jimmy Dore.

[–] Chezeng@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 2 days ago

Really, from Danny?

[–] davel@lemmygrad.ml 22 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Up until now I’ve avoided this guy and the buzz around him. I listened to the first sentence in this video, which is a clip from one of his lectures.

“Communism was a weapon or a virus, created by capitalism in order to conquer the world; in order to destroy the world so capitalism can spread throughout the world.”

[–] cornishon@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He's also a believer in the conspiracy that Bolsheviks were actually paid by Wall Street to overthrow the Tzar.

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] cornishon@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Wait, there's more: eventually the Bolsheviks figured out that they've been used and Wall Street won't hold their end of the bargain, and that's why they appointed the evil bad Stalin as their leader instead of Trotsky "as everyone expected" after Lenin's death, and blamed everything on Trotsky "because he was a Jew".

Can't make this up.

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 2 days ago

You're wrong because they did in fact make it up.

[–] davel@lemmygrad.ml 14 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I checked out his Wikipedia page. It’s a rabbit hole.

https://www.youtube.com/@PredictiveHistory

In his Foundation series, Isaac Asimov proposed that the science of "psycho-history" will help humanity understand its past, predict its future, and control its present. This channel is dedicated to exploring if "psycho-history" is indeed possible.

My brother in Marx, what do you think inspired Asimov but the immortal science to craft his Foundation universe and psycho-history?

[–] bennieandthez@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Lol this is the stuff that dumbasses eat for breakfast, add in the "psycho" prefix to anything and it's gonna be a best seller. Psychoanalisis, psychohustory whatever

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 15 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Why do peoples even like him. His research and presentation skill is completely based off of reading off wiki articles.

[–] Saymaz@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 1 day ago

He literally cites 'Sapiens' as an anthropological reference. 🙏😭

[–] cornishon@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

And half of his slides are literally screenshots of ChatGPT answers.

[–] Alaskaball@hexbear.net 10 points 2 days ago

Oh wow that's even significantly worse than the last time I subjected myself to his slop

[–] Saymaz@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This motherfucker was kicked out of China for illegal video recordings and alleged espionage.

[–] ComradeSalad@lemmygrad.ml 12 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

The source of both those claims is an off hand comment by someone claiming to be his friend. The police never released a statement regarding his deportation when asked by the Canadian consul, never filed charges, and allowed him to return to China without restrictions 5 months after he was deported. He still lives and teaches in China too.

Guy’s still an anti-communist wack job though, a sandwich could give more coherent takes.

[–] Saymaz@lemmygrad.ml 14 points 2 days ago

I won't be surprised if he turns out to be a Falun Gong asset in the future.

[–] ahriboy@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 2 days ago

Imagine losing views in next few months.
