Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

This was indistinguishable from parody. The self-admitted war criminal ("I did some very interesting things for the US government") who then says "The CIA was supposed to be about putting people first" is going to live in my head for a long time lol

Love that the narrator literally says 10 times that they have not actually been shown any evidence and yet the comments are full of "now this is journalism" i-cant

I'm still half convinced that Havana Syndrome is just mass hysteria among the US intelligence ghouls.

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 16 points 14 hours ago

I speculate that it was made up by the CIA or similar and they got surprised to what extend it caught on and they are now struggling to stay on top of the narrative.

I'm tired, anxious, depressed, nauseated, with loose bowels and an ill temperment, it has nothing to do with my chronic alcohol abuse which gets worse when I'm sent abroad with nothing but crimes against humanity to do, it's actually the dang ruskies again

[–] Tabitha@hexbear.net 13 points 13 hours ago

I agree "when you get older you feel like shit" and "US doesn't have universal healthcare" are both a massive CIA cover-up.

Havana Syndrome is basically the CIA's 3rd attempt at reproducing the Dancing plague of 1518.

Went to Havana once. I got Havana Syndrome.

I noticed it acutely when drinking from bottles labeled "Havana Club". Maybe the CIA should look into it.

Havana was actually great tho

I don't want to 60 minutes someone give me the 60 seconds summary.

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 32 points 15 hours ago (3 children)

CIA is usually putting people first but is covering this up.

The Havana syndrome is a Russian weapon, that might have escaped containment.

Havana syndrome victims should get the purple heart.

i can easily imagine that the US chose the shittiest contractor for some building maintenance or pest control stuff and ended up mildly poisoning random people, and is then covering it up by reheating this stale cold war soviet ray weapon meme.

[–] KobaCumTribute@hexbear.net 5 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

pest control stuff

That is 100% what it started as, the US Embassy in Havana was spraying its grounds to control mosquitos during the zika outbreak.

Then it became a psychosomatic thing where every hangover, bit of jetlag, or any sort of minor "not feeling so great for some reason" malady made them start psyching themselves out until they manifested the additional symptoms they'd heard they should have.

Then it became a good excuse for why State Department flunkies were having heroin withdrawal after the CIA lost the poppy fields in Afghanistan (either the CIA itself was trafficking heroin through embassies, or this was some good old fashioned entrepreneurial spirit from some CIA agents who wanted to do a bit of graft and international drug smuggling as a side gig since they had the opportunity).

any sort of minor "not feeling so great for some reason" malady

That's called Covid.

Do they have more evidence than UFO and aliens coverup conspiracies or nah?

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 15 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

Nothing cool or funny sadness glorp

I guess the highlight was that the team responsible for investigating the Havana syndrome would make jokes about getting themselves Havana syndrome by drinking.

[–] quarrk@hexbear.net 16 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Same old story that has been done on the same old program already. Except now with some extra sauce, government coverup conspiracy

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 11 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Alright, nonsense then? Getting a bunch of "ex government employees" to say "this is being covered up" is the same level of evidence that alien coverup conspiracies have.

[–] Elysia@hexbear.net 5 points 12 hours ago

The narrator repeatedly says they have not been shown any evidence, but they have been told that it's totally real by the same people who have said Havana Syndrome was real years ago. Sooo...
