Ah yes, good, old fashioned language.

Those hobbits are queer, but they are most gay.

Old fashioned interpretation to modern language:

These hobbits are strange, but they are very happy

Modern interpretation to synonyms in modern language:

These hobbits are an unspecified type of non-heterosexuals, but they are very homosexual.

the source text is in old fashioned language.

Okay, I am convinced that hobbits were rabbits in an early draft.

  • Big ears
  • Long hairy feet
  • Timid
  • Unadventurous
  • Live in burrows underground
  • Steal vegetables from the neighbor's fields

So when that meme comes around about tying the ring to a rodent and carrying the rodent, I think "yeah that's exactly what Gandalf did"

They are rabbit hobos maybe? They live in burrows.

Regular rabbits live in burrows.

Yeah, and hobbit is a portmanteau of hobo + rabbit. Also goblin is a malapropism for goblin deez nutz
