They said Trump was playing 4D chess when it reality it was connect four.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 21 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Really he's eating the chess pieces.

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 4 weeks ago

He's eating the pawns, he's eating the rooks, of the people that live there

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 3 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

"He'll run it like his businesses."

"He'll be the president of peace."

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 9 points 4 weeks ago

“He’ll run it like his businesses.”

Boeing and Raytheon are businesses.

“He’ll be the president of peace.”

Peace of Shit

MFW when GWB has the smallest country count.

[–] FoxyFerengi@startrek.website 38 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I think if he had not started those wars the following presidents would've exercised far more caution in authorizing strikes. Also, a lot of bad laws were passed during his presidency that allowed the executive to hold more power

[–] tburkhol@lemmy.world 10 points 4 weeks ago

I definitely feel like GWB changed the narrative, but Clinton and GHWB both bombed Iraq, Clinton did attacks in Afghanistan & Sudan, plus the whole Bosnia and Yugoslavia things.

[–] Keeponstalin@lemmy.world 19 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

GWB walked so Trump could run

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 4 weeks ago

*so Obama could jog and Trump could run

I hate how Bush is being compared as the better president

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 31 points 4 weeks ago (5 children)

An argument could’ve been made that Trump was worse domestically because ICE but Bush was worse internationally because Iraq/Afghanistan. I don’t think that argument will hold any water by the time Trump is no longer president.

[–] red_tomato@lemmy.world 10 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

My fear is that the Iran situation will turn into a forever war like Afghanistan, and then in the end the terrorists will just claim the power either way

A very sad state of affairs

[–] Serinus@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago

This war might seal it.

Fuck all of this but it feels like a bad metric. The number of countries vs the size of the attacks might be relevant. Once again I don't support any of it but one strike on a bunker is a lot different than an entire war.

[–] yucandu@lemmy.world 18 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Or the nature of the attacks. Why should I care about "Obama attacked Pakistan" if the "attack" was killing Bin Laden?

[–] couldhavebeenyou@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 weeks ago

Well you should care

Just not about this 'meme'

[–] Grail@multiverse.soulism.net 18 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

And the centrist voters say there's no blood on their hands

[–] TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today 6 points 4 weeks ago (3 children)

Tbf there isn't really a way to avoid having blood on your hands as an American without going to jail. Simply abstaining from election doesn't stop the violence, nor does it isolate you from the societal benefits of imperialism.

If you pay taxes to a country making war, you are by default funding that war. The great illusion of our bicameral Congress is choice, when in reality our government has always been beholden to the senatorial class.

Generally your options are to engage in harm reduction by voting for the lesser of two evils, or to engage in civil disobedience and be imprisoned.

Why are Bush and Obama not on the Iran list?

Also, Bush in Venezuela.

I'm sure there are others they missed.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 9 points 4 weeks ago

This is not a complete list, we do all sorts of shit in Africa.

[–] Novis 7 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

His base. He has to have them distracted and killing brown/black people to keep them off of the Epstein files, cause he knows they're more than willing to burn down the capital and hang him.

President of peace over here

[–] tlekiteki@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 4 weeks ago

/s But Obama only did the minimal number of bombings that was absolutely necessary. Please let me imagine there are some good guys we call the 'Democratic Party'

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 4 points 4 weeks ago

Team America The World Police.

Americans seem to forget the problems with America, and the problems that the rest of the world has had with America, didn't start with Trump. America has always been a problem. Trump just turned it into a parody of itself.

[–] chaotic_ugly@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 weeks ago

Guy is a score-chaser. I wouldn't be surprised if we got rid of unmanned drones so that he could get the high score for most casualties of war.

[–] Corgana@startrek.website 3 points 4 weeks ago

When did Trump or Biden attack the country of Iraq? Iraq is a US strategic partner and the US basically pays for their entire military. Even claiming Obama attacked the nation of Iraq is a big overreach, imo.
