Dumb take. Dispelling the fear of China does more to undo the fabric of the United States. You can’t see other citizens get merc’d by internal security forces and go “at least we are not china” when a twitch streamer or a tiktoker shows up in China having the time of his life.

I swear every gen z I meet is either the biggest piece of shit consumerist chud you'll ever meet or the most badass 'idgf if you call me a chinese communist' leftist you will ever meet with no inbetween.

My favorite one It's seen is of someone going "Oh man I wonder what Charlie Kirk thinks about this?!" And the next image is just his empty chair

You never did the Kenosha Kid.

[–] Commiechameleon@hexbear.net 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Had no idea this was a band or literary reference, was concerned at first it was in reference to Rittenhouse. If he is to be done, it can be WITH harm

Yeah, it's a well known passage from Gravity's Rainbow that plays with the malleability of language using punctuation. Like the simpsons bit with the lawyer "Works on contingency. No money down." vs "Works on contingency? NO! Money down."

I HATE that they call kyle shitinhouse the kenosha kid for this exact reason. I'm a huge pynchon fan (my pfp is a symbol from one of his books).

the vast majority talking of “Chinese baddies” only mean that lovingly (translation: badass).

[–] godisidog@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Isn’t a ‘baddie’ a hot person?

[–] Commiechameleon@hexbear.net 5 points 1 month ago

Idk if hot specifically, but definitely fuckmaxxes

[–] fox@hexbear.net 2 points 1 month ago

Traditionally but it's been getting sanded down like all slang terms into a generic good/bad paradigm. A baddie is someone you like
