It's kinda' funny how much people hate Square when they're one of the few companies that actually release game regularly, release smaller-ish mid-budget games, release JRPGs at all. I hate all the bad stuff about them too, but they get more hate than Nintendo when Nintendo's way worse of a company (the only reason Nintendo didn't jump on AI/NFTs is probably due to their size and success and not due to any ideological opposition).

Konami's worse. Capcom's probably better. Etc. Etc. Fine with the critiques but feels disproportionate.

Eh there’s a lot of companies making jrpgs constantly they just aren’t marketed as heavily or don’t have the same budget as square. Square has also been consistently bad at releasing some of the worst 0 effort pc ports - some of which, like this one, verge on nearly unplayable. At least the other companies have tried a little more and improved, even if they’ve been terrible in other ways.

Ah, the genre of video essay that is just a laundry list of complaints. At least it is short, and isn't like pokemon fan ones which routinely hit several hours in length.

Bit of a bait and switch playing a modded version with those awful models running around. Why people can't play 7 with the og chibi characters is baffling to me.
