Last week was my first full week back at work after recovering from this weird cold / flue that's going around.

You know... after almost 30 years working for the same company (in different roles), I'm not sure I want to stay there any more.

No similar jobs nearby - or they're paying 50% less... but... I'm just not feeling like dealing with the daily crap anymore.

It's a bit unsettling...

Damn mate 30 years is a hell of a shift! Would contracting be an option in your line of work?

Had brain fog last week from perhaps too much work and not enough sleep.

Anyway, Ive got a date lined up this weekend and am nervous as hell because I'm certain im twice the size I was in the dating profile.

Thinkin of hitting a gym every day until the date comes, and maybe 5 days of good habits will be enough to show enough promise to keep her interested.

She's got good banter and is quite pretty. She also has a kid, so I'm not entirely sure what game I'm playing here.... I guess I'll find out

Good on you mate, hope it all goes well!

My week was OK, my mother in law came out of hospital so things have been a bit less hectic since. She seems to be fine for now.

I've spent the entire week aching like hell from the gym last Sunday, only to finally recover on Saturday!

Saturday was mostly spent doing chores, but we had a babysitter for a few hours, so me and Mrs Blackn1ght managed to go out for some food for a few hours. Sunday went to the gym, and then we all went on a walk up Rivington Pike, which surprisingly our 3 year old managed to walk the entire way! Although to be fair we kept stopping and starting so much that my watch couldn't even record a walking pace!

My next task is to start looking into a standing desk and a desk treadmill so I can get some steps in during meetings.

On your last point, have a look at the Ikea sit-stand desks, I have one and it's been working well for... ~10years? (& they're cheaper than some others)

There's no way I could concentrate / be on video calls and walk though, so I'm not sure about the treadmill...

It sounds like you overdid your workout badly last weekend.

After good several years, I started again going to the gym late last year. At my age one needs to be careful to avoid causing more harm than good. So far no major aches or pains, and happily a noticeable improvement in the way my body (or what’s left of it) works.

Probably, I think it's just because I'm starting back. I feel considerably less sore today despite doing more than I did last week! It feels like a chore going but I'm hoping that once I'm going enough then it'll start to become addicting.

Saturday was lovely with bright sunshine through the day. The contrast with the past several weeks was remarkable.

Sadly Sunday was back to grey and damp. On Sunday evening I found myself wondering how bloody bored must I be to be watching curling!

I'm pretty excited for double digits again soon. There are a lot of nice looking beaches nearby and I haven't seen them in summertime yet. The grey makes them all the more a tease.

I look forward to these pinned posts, but I don't mind if it's something you only do as time permits. Thanks for keeping it going!

Our first weekend at large in Weymouth and most us are sick! Alas. We at least got our library cards, just the essentials. Yesterday I made pad thai from scratch in a hilariously big wok I found. Thinking of doing peanut sauce tonight.

How's things going in Weymouth? Is it a lot better than where you were before?

I love a satay sauce! Feel free to drop any delicious recipes in !recipes@feddit.uk 😉

We've moved from one faded seaside resort town to another on the other side of the country, but it's still as different as can be. We're already on a first-name basis with three neighbours, while back in Ramsgate we never got that far in a year and a half.

I grew up in just about every bit of the west coast of the US, and I forgot how much I miss having a big slice of terrain standing behind me when I face the sea. The chalk here isn't quite as high as the Cascades, but you'd never get a giant with a train-sized willy carved onto Mt. Rainier. Size isn't everything, after all.

I'm just going to wing it with the satay sauce, but if it turns out right I'll post the method. Cheers!
