to save you a click: it’s ethan klein (h3h3productions) and chris chan

I was somewhat interested before, but I have zero interest in supporting anything Ethan Klein has been involved in. Yuck.

Can someone give the short version on what Ethan Klein did? I read the Wikipedia article but it paints everything in a broad brush, definitely feels like a story missing some key details.

He burned a whole lot of bridges in a Zionist crashout that started after Oct 7. Also, he has this tendency toward frivolous legal action against people who say stuff about him that he doesn't like.

Yea that turns me off completely.

Is that the worst of it? If so, I think I can live with that.

The game is pretty fun so far.

I think the most egregious thing about this game is the price for me. 30 bucks for another roguelike? I'd rather buy Hades 2...

I don't care about "celebrity cameos" even when it's people I like. But I guess adding some controversial people is one way for a dev to drive engagement.

That's batshit and such a newgrounds thing to do to make mutated incestuous cats voiced by terrible people.

Definitely weird, hard to say if it is in good taste or bad. Very Edmund level of fucked up.

The article itself seems to state that they were most likely asked before the people became problematic. Given the game has been in development for 12 years & Ed most likely asked a huge plethora of Internet personalities, I'm surprised there aren't more.

But that also means he had plenty of time to find out that maybe some of these should be discarded from the final product.

I'll be honest & think between their tiny team, it almost certainly wasn't much of a priority at all. Though from what I've seen of Ed, I don't think he'd care enough to change it if he was made aware

Regardless of controversial meows, the escapist starting the article with "a backlash is rising" feels like they're admitting they're fanning the flames of Internet drama for traffic to their site.

If you give a shit enough about this nonsense, you were never going to have fun in the first place.
