lol, good bit. i saw it the theaters when it came out, because i was teenage TNG head.

i wasn't really keen on track 1 of his launch mixtape being steppenwolf.

that would be a millenial blasting off to some big band shit from the 1930s when they hit their 50s. literally, even my parents would have been like, "wtf is this grandpa shit?" which, i mean, eccentrics can be into whatever.

but i thought it was a missed opportunity to do something nuts, like him saying, "my dad got me into the classics" and then blasting aphex twin or some kind of ridiculous/hostile glitch art noise that was fringe as balls when the movie came out (mid 90s). but of course TNG was always tipping its hat to early genX mainstream shit, pretending like it was going to be timeless.

nah they usually tip the hat to public domain works. Licensed music and stuff was rare on TV 'cause they would've had to pay for it
