Hey look, it’s my dad… 😑
Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
😇 Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
🏘️ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
🧬 Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
📽️ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
📋 Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
✅ Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
📬 Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 🖐) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 🖐) will be removed.
-
🏴☠️ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
Sí, por favor [Spanish/Español]
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,

🍿 Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

Mine would have fallen for the same shit if he had lived to see it - makes me glad i don't have to deal with that, i'm sorry for you and your family, wish you all the best
On paper mine could have. Instead he spent his last years dying, cutting out all his friends that echoed the sentiment of the men his own father flew to Germany to unalive, in disbelief. And he "wasn't political." Just common sense. Worked 7 days a week until the end when he went out under water from medical bills, and about to lose the house. No sarcasm, my father was a working class American hero.
Oh mine was no hero. He was spewing hate and voting far right for decades. Was a drunkard to boot. Went out stumbling in his flat and hitting his head. No heroics here, only wasted years and a broken home.
That sucks. Mine was far from perfect but you got a shit situation dealt and I'm sorry. Hope you grow up a better adult than him
He taught me nothing, but i learnt a few lessons: to stay away from alcohol, to be more empathetic and to put a dampener on the choleric traits i inherited. Also to be left wing and to avoid rash judgment - i definitely broke the cycle.
Sadly it also means living with psychological issues like recurring depression, social anxiety and a personality disorder. But all in all i'm a better human being than he ever was.
Kill. Murder. Execute. Shoot. Decapitate. Dismember. Disembowel.
These are words you can use on the Fediverse. You don’t need to self-censor with words like ‘unalive’ because there’s no corporate algorithm, no shadowbanning and no de-prioritising content based on language. There’s no need to import TikTok/Instagram newspeak.
It's not mods I'm minding. Still public and permanent
Thank you for the kind words.
Yeah mines the one spewing hatespeech on internet forums. He has his own yt channel devoted to his views. I don't talk to him.
So I had the misfortune of hearing a joe rogan podcast the other day. It was quite insufferable before I even knew who it was. They were talking about some cool science stuff for a couple minutes, then spent the next half hour bashing the scientific community and making ad hominem arguments about them. Sponsored by a gambling app. For fucks sake, talk about the science thing more damnit!
Many years ago I sometimes got stuck in a work truck with a guy who would play nothing but conservative bullshit radio, and it was insufferable.
Nothing but a non-stop stream of hate and bile and misinformation, and so many ads for products I would be embarrassed to be seen buying.
I had to stop being friends with a guy because he doesn't trust in a lot of news.
But he would constantly go, "Asmongold said..."
But I would constantly go, “Asmongold said…”
Must be hard to break off a friendship with yourself, lol
Damn typo strikes again! Fixed.
"But he..."
Asmongold fan by typo is a cursed reality of our time.

Alot of those Podcaster dudes target the vulnerable and disenfranchised to get clicks. Also they are part of the reason for young men getting into the alt-right pipeline
Its all been lies as long as Ive been alive. True integrity in journalism has always been rare and an uphill battle. As soon as you come to terms with the fact that monied interests are never going to stop manipulating media, its easier to not take any of it too seriously.
Turns out the world is ruled by a secret cabal of people that decide its fate during weird highly immoral sex ceremonies... And it was that cabal that decided to give visibility to those people.
All sources are biased. The ones that say they aren't are trying to trick you. Understanding the bias of what you consume allows sifting through to get the information.
Mainstream media owned by billionaires is wank tho
Who are funded by the same pedofile Zionist billionaires who own the mainstream media
they are mainstream media. joe rogan is one of the most popular media franchises. it doesn't matter he's in a newer format than fox news, it matters that he's part of the same mechanism and cultural delivery system
Someone at work listens to JRE. What recommendations do people have for an alternative?
I suspect that behind the bastards is 'too political'. I was thinking pehaps Marc Maron or similar.
Mainstream media? Unreliable, biased, full of fake news, they keep lying…
Angry dudes on social media

Does anyone have that image of matt Walsh and like 5 other "independent thinkers" that all posted almost identical responses on Twitter? Theyre not even listening to real people's opinions lol
Yeah but it's true about mainstream media - they all sold and owned by someone.
There is 0 coverage of Gaza genocide or many other issues - it's absolutely untrustworthy.
