It's a texture thing, okay?!

Tomatoes in a burger looks good

But theyre way too watery and just ruin it

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 9 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Tomatoes used to taste good. Nowadays you have to buy heirloom or import good ones to know what tomato flavour is, if you're in America.

A more fun fact: my wife will not want ketchup if there's a slice of tomato on the burger. The two taste nothing alike, but it doesn't matter to her. Isn't that something?

if you're in America.

The problem isn't limited to America. I'm in Italy, where good tomatoes shouldn't be hard to find, and yet in the last years I've started paying much more attention when I buy them.

The problem isn’t limited to America.

It is if you're in America.

Shhhhh we only have fake sugar here and definitely not some of the nicest grocery stores and farmers markets filled to the brim year long with good produce. Don't let the yeruos in on the secret.

[–] Damage@feddit.it 2 points 2 months ago

Yeah but what are you comparing them with?

You know, I thought my tastes had just changed because I used to love tomatoes, and now I usually take a pass outside of making sauces.

I slice my tomato much thinner than in fast food pictures, and I salt the the slices on a paper towel and let them sit while the burger cooks. When I'm ready I wipe off the water on top of the tomato, so I end up with a seasoned, somewhat drier tomato slice that I enjoy.

Why would you take a tomato off of your burger? There’s a special place in hell for people who do that. I think it’s below the layer of lettuce in Dante’s Inferno.

[–] piccolo@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

People that dont like raw tomatoes?

[–] JustAnotherKay@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

The texture is weird to me. I don’t always take the tomato off, but I will take it off if it’s not cut correctly. Too thick and you get chewy/crunchy bits, too thin and your burger becomes slightly. It has to be perfect or I don’t want it.

The flavor, however is great. I love tomato flavor. It’s not my favorite, but it’s great.

The trees watching me build something with precut lumber

[–] Damage@feddit.it 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Cool, add some more sugar to your diet, why not

[–] CallMeAnAI@lemmy.world -2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Take a picture. How much do you weigh?

[–] Damage@feddit.it 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I took a picture but it doesn't tell me my weight.

[–] CallMeAnAI@lemmy.world -2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I bet you the floor we start at is 250 and we can go up from there.

[–] Damage@feddit.it 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I've got to reiterate that I'm not American

[–] CallMeAnAI@lemmy.world -3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

And? Dodging that comment like a pro politician BTW 👍

I've got my answer.

[–] Damage@feddit.it 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Well you bring very negative energy, so I'd rather not engage you and sour the air in here any further.

You can picture me anyway you want because I absolutely don't care about you. No actually, I care enough to tell you that if you feel the need to childishly call others fat over a comment on ketchup, maybe you need to figure out what makes you so angry.

[–] CallMeAnAI@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Only fat people think ketchup makes them fat. You've been seen.

BTW you're the one who was negative here. You're the one who turned the meme from a taste/texture thing to a fatty the thing. You know that scene from team America? Dicks fuck asses is where we stand. God I love it when one of you people tries to retreat off into issa joke after their feelings are hurt 🤣

[–] Damage@feddit.it 1 points 2 months ago

🤷‍♂️

[–] CallMeAnAI@lemmy.world -1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

That'll stop me 🤣

I call out a shitty comment and you want a ban.

[–] Breezy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

You can be skinny and still not want added suger. The only shitty comments were your own.

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 months ago

It's not even about you, ultimately. You're just some guy having an episode. It's less about "stopping you" than expressing decency and kindness. You did something hurtful and harmful to someone who didn't deserve it, and this is a way we can support that person.

Get better.

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The same as before the picture, I suppose.

[–] hypnicjerk@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

21 grams lighter actually since being photographed sucks up your soul

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Or 21 g more since I'm apparently the one taking the picture...

Who knew photography was so complicated?

[–] lka1988@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I enjoy a good slice of tomato on my burger. But it has to be right. I don't like warm/floppy and I don't like cold/crunchy. Has to be in-between, it's hard to explain.

[–] jago@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

Ripe, at or near room temperature, thick enough to hold form and texture, thin enough to yield to bite, so as to provide substance and flavour while not being pulled prematurely from the sandwich in toto.

:)

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 2 points 2 months ago

Do you have sugar and vinegar, tomato?

No, you don't, lazy fuck

[–] Bazell@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 months ago
[–] Shamber@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

I love fresh tomatoes, I hate them on hot food, specially sandwiches for me they don't belong, hate me if want, that's my 2 cents

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

why have you not been Spiked, tomato? go back to the kitchen and get properly seasoned.
