Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Harvey Weinstein? That's inconceivable!

[–] ThunderComplex@lemmy.today 4 points 2 months ago

I’m more surprised that it took this long for him to come up (at least this is the first time I’ve seen him mentioned in conjunction with the Epstein files)

[–] BetaBlake@lemmy.world 40 points 2 months ago

Man now I'm going to have to take down my Weinstein flag and bumper stickers, and throw away my shirts and stop going to rallies year round

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 36 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Pusha T? That's the only surprising one IMO.

[–] Mynameisallen@lemmy.zip 14 points 2 months ago

Same, I’m truly caught off guard on that

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

[–] mbp@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 2 months ago

George Carlin: "It's a big club and you ain't in it.

Me in 2026: "thank goodness I'm not in it."

Jay-Z the guy who started chasing after Beyoncé when she was 16 years old and officially dating her at 19 when he was 30?

Well at least R-Kelly, P.Diddy, and Drake aren’t in the files! I’d be devastated if something bad came to light about them.

[–] MrNesser@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago

Ohhhh boy your going to want to sit down for this one

[–] whatalute@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago

You're telling me that some disgusting rich men were found to be in association with other disgusting rich men? I'm shocked.

[–] 4am@lemmy.zip 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

If you havin’ file problems, I feel bad for you, son / I got an “in the file” problem and Epstein it’s from

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 months ago

Of all the things you could rhyme with "file", given the context, I applaud your choice of "in the".

[–] hector@lemmy.today 10 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Jay Z eh? I never listened to much of his music in the short time I was into rap. But I do have a mix with him on it. He partied with them? This administration just released the goods on the supporters of their opposition, and or people that didn't pay them off not to I presume.

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They threw a few bones to distract the dogs. That was to be expected.

[–] hector@lemmy.today 2 points 2 months ago

Indeed, this was guaranteed.

[–] DaMummy@hilariouschaos.com 3 points 2 months ago

It had more to do with his ownership of a major record label, than him being a rapper, I'd assume.

[–] OhVenus_Baby@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 months ago

Nobody is trying to screw these fools.

[–] Proprietary_Blend@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Not these Epstein things!

[–] sable@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 2 months ago

So be it, so be it

[–] itisileclerk@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

I bet the billionaires not mentioned in the Epstein files feel very unimportant and ask themselves "am I worth anything?"

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 1 points 2 months ago

50 cent and Eminem have been telling us about the Carters for a long time.
