I know they're almost all bots and various foreign state actors shit-stirring for their own agendas, but the comments supporting him on Twitter are just depressing. You can see the wheels of cognitive dissonance spinning at 10,000 RPM.

Imagine being such a terrible person that even custom made LLMs struggle to praise you

Evil people enjoy being evil, they just LOVE it. He knows the right thing to do, that's why he does the opposite, because it's so much FUN!

[–] SailorFuzz@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago

So, basically, he shot himself in the foot lying about trying to shoot his shot to the worlds most well known pedo, and NOW he's trying to get some goodboy points by picking a political side in international affairs, thereby making himself (and his assets) viable war targets....

So, maybe (hopefully), the next shots will be Russia shooting down Musk's satellites. Thereby, tanking yet another of Musk's companies and maybe investors will finally stop sucking him off as yet another business of his goes tits up because of his wreckless political interference.

All the other shit aside, it bothers me that so many areas now rely on Starlink, handing Elon the keys to just cut access for whomever whenever.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I was at a gay campground last summer and the guy I was with pointed out two Starlink receivers, we were both amazed that community-oriented queer men would just fork over money so they could watch TV. At a campground. They weren't even boomers, they were Gen Xers. People are just so addicted to modern convenience they don't care about who's supplying it.

I've been in the car with a transformers when they insisted on going to Chik-fil-a for lunch.

It legitimately made me lose a lot of respect for them.

Alec kinda hammered this in with his last Technology Connections video briefly.

It really was easier/better to launch millions of sattelites into space instead of just getting AT&T or whatever other telecom to extend a cable 50 yards? Really?

[–] J92@lemmy.world 3 points 57 minutes ago

The coverage at sea is pretty helpful. Ideally it should be under UN control, if just to stop every country or block wanting to set up their own version and causing massive amounts of orbital clutter.

[–] IAmNorRealTakeYourMeds@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

nationalize starlink/spacex

ideally after Trump's cabinet loses their neck privileges

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 43 minutes ago

Taxpayers paid for both.

I actually built a LoRa network with a mate, if we stretch our antenas we can cover almost 300km with little to no energy but the latency is absolutely trash, though communication wise it works alright.

We should have less and less trust handling our data like we currently do.

[–] phx@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

I'm in the process of starting with some LoRa stuff myself, and just waiting on hardware to arrive. Can you provide any details on what you're using hardware-wise? I'm assuming that 300km is pretty much obstacle-free?

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Can I come hang out on the pedofile island now guys? We need to turn space x over to nasa and confiscate his wealth to pay for the rebuilding of our countries security infrastructure

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 41 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

What I hear: he didn't before because Putin had the dirt on him. Now that it's out...

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Epstein was pretty obviously mossad but both russia and israel seem to both use the blackmail materials. Interesting how that woks from such a "staunch US ally" as israel is portrayed to be. How are they sharing this stuff?

Side note, I suggest a change to english writing standards whereby loathsome words like "putin" or "israel" become exceptions to capitalization rules and are always lower case. "US" is an exception only because it breaks the writing flow and reads as 'us'.

So he could have done it all along but he didn't do it as countless Ukrainian civilians were being targeted and killed.

His image can't be saved.

[–] partofthevoice@lemmy.zip 21 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

There is a percentage of any population that just repeats shit they heard their role models say, like it’s the gospel. Image repair is going to involve starting “cool projects,” getting good interviews with popular influencers, and coaching a swarm of people to ignorantly support him for the “sake of humanity” or some shit. This is a weird faucet of human society, but look at how well it works…

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

a weird faucet of human society

You mean one of those annoying ones with one dial for hot and one for cold that are never in a useful temperature range for longer than a second?

[–] partofthevoice@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

It’s like you want to see what’s at the bottom of a well, but someone turns on a spigot of water to cause ripples. You can’t tell whether what’s down there is more round or square, now. Later they add food coloring, and you can’t really recall by this point if the object was originally red or orange… Soon they toss in some disco balls, and now you’ve gotten distracted by the shiny sparkles everywhere. Eventually, the well fills and the disco balls float to the top. Everyone around you is remarking at how beautiful the well looks, and you’re the only one left wondering what the fuck just happened.

[–] partofthevoice@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (1 children)

Then if you bring up how something was at the bottom, those people will attack you for being ignorant of the wells beauty, and all humanity gains from that well. They’ll tell you, you should be more grateful.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 hours ago

You're right, that's NOTHING like any of the faucets I have! 😁

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

At this point, yeah but there's also a third knob that just pours blood straight out the faucet.

I've supported Nazis both in Russia and the USA but now I want a better image so that people start buying my cars again so I van become a trillionaire. All forgiven?

Fuck. Off. And. Die.

[–] dandylion@lemmy.zip 28 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (2 children)

wtf is going on with these people and their "image repair"?

you've shown who you are. deal with the consequences.

you don't deserve power.

[–] calcopiritus@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

This is not image repair. Musk shared starling in exchange for Russia's silence. But the files are out so Russia didn't do their end of the deal, so musk removes his end of the deal.

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

you don't deserve power.

Not even the kind that recharges devices!

The world would be many times better off if he was forced to live a 100% analog life.

[–] dandylion@lemmy.zip 5 points 5 hours ago

this idea feels utopian

[–] cv_octavio@piefed.ca 17 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Ever since that submarine idea of his got shitted on. Ever since then. That was a real odd episode, and right about then is when my eyebrows went up and I started thinking that this fucker was projecting.

[–] TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today 5 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

He's always been like this, in the past he's just had handlers that managed his image. I think around 2015 he fired his secretary mommy that had been controlling his worst behaviors for over a decade.

[–] cv_octavio@piefed.ca 1 points 25 minutes ago

He's always been like this

I am certain of it.  He was just more ignoreable back then.

[–] HellsBelle@sh.itjust.works 6 points 5 hours ago

A tiger doesn't change its stripes. Neither does a nazi.

Musk's basic code was always there. He just knew how to put lipstick on a pig to trick the masses into compliance.
