I was just visiting a friend of mine last sunday with my SteamDeck and we played Unrailed! the whole day :D

The SteamDeck is THE perfect, portable fun-games-machine to just take with you. And every sale there's another few local-splitscreen-multiplayer games on sale, my library is scared already.

If you did not live through the time of "going to your friends to play games", this is your ticket to a past you sadly never got to experience.

80 hours and counting of Fallout New Vegas.

Me but with Persona 3 Reload.

I have recently quit Sly 4 on RPCS3 until I can find out if I can get tilt controls working in some way. Sad because it wasn't a bad game. Not Sly 2 or 3 levels of "I love it!" with how far I got, but still good.

I've also had some fun on Super Chipflake Ü. Otherwise, I haven't done much with it.

Paper Mario the Thousand-Year Door (GC version)

[–] 14specks@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

Funny! I played it last year on mine lol

I have been playing quite a bit of Hytale. While ipt is not on steam, it was very easy to install, and plays really well with a trackball and keyboard. It probably plays fine with a controller too, but I have not tried that.

Cairn, but I have mixed feelings about it. There are occasional moments of joy when the climbing system works and looks like real climbing but it seems that most of my time is spent fighting the jank and getting frustrated that this “pro” climber can’t use the most basic climbing techniques.

Also, the performance on steamdeck is abysmal.

Currently replaying Portal 2, it's amazing how well it holds up considering it came out almost a decade and a half ago.

Back on Fallout 4.

Never tried non-console modding before, but Vivid Fallout & Another Green Mod got it looking real nice 👌

Time for some more Advanced Wars 1, gotta finish that once and for all. Some PokeMMO on the side.

[–] Nomorereddit@lemmy.today 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I can play advanced wars on my sd?

[–] Chee_Koala@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Oh sure, if you use retrodeck or something similar, your ROMs can be added to the normal steam lib with images and everything, making it almost fully plug and play. I have been pretty succesful up to PS3 (I love Dante's inferno), and although switch/BotW required a lot more work beforehand, it did eventually work on a stable fps.

Inspiring, ty sexy

I'm playing entirely too much Risk of Rain Returns. Trying to unlock everything and it's easier said than done. 🥲

  • Monster Train 2
  • Ball x Pit
  • Absolum

Also been playing Expedition 33 and picked up Shredders yesterday, but have been streaming them from my PC as they look awful when trying to play natively.

New patch and DLC for Monster Train tomorrow that I'm excited for. Slay the Spire 2 will have some solid competition for my time when it releases!

With Exp 33, you will definitely want to play with the settings. You can get it looking decent, but the default settings were not ideal back when I played it.

Is Hades 1 worth playing first?

[–] cannedtuna@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

It’s a great game so yeah I’d play it first. Also the second game continues the story of the first. Both are enjoyable so I don’t think you’ll be disappointed to play the first before the second. I was super happy when I finally got to the true ending of #1. Still working on that for #2

[–] MightyLordJason@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Me too! I got past both Typhon and Chronos on 19 January for the first time. It was a good day

[–] tiberius@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

Hi-Fi Rush.

Operation Harsh Doorstop, Easy Red 2 and I have been exploring Rigs Of Rods a bit, I think it is an underrated driving game well suited to the deck but it has lots of quirks and I am gonna do a more indepth post on it when I get all my recommendations together.

[–] bjoern_tantau@swg-empire.de 3 points 1 day ago

I started playing Earth Must Die. Pretty funny although I haven't at the earth must die part yet.

I just finished playing Spiderman Remastered and Oblivion Remastered.

Been playing Cloudheim with a friend, and it's alright. Feels heavily inspired by Genshin, at least at a surface layer. Has a huge amount of stuff to do though.

Also getting started on Kingdom Come Deliverance 1. I've always heard how good it is, and a coworker has been pushing me to play it.

I've also been messing around with Monster Hunter Wilds on the deck. I had to buy a new graphics card for my desktop PC awhile back, because it got destroyed by lightning. MH Wilds was included for free with the card, so I've had it all this time but haven't even tried to play it due to the performance issues. But the recent performance updates have made it possible to play on Deck. Performance varies wildly, most of the smaller areas run good enough, but the flat plains area has a pretty consistently low fps. It's definitely not ideal, but it is possible to play it on Deck now without the "little engine that could" mod.

What settings did you use on Spider-Man? I’ve been having so many issues getting it to run at a stable 30 FPS

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Spiderman ran pretty great, except for some cutscenes and inside the FEAST building. Ultimately I just tolerated those spots, since nothing I changed seemed to help.

[–] TheMinions@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

I’ve been seeing a lot of stuttering during scenes with characters that have hair haha. Specifically that first scene with Otto and in the lab in general really kick the performance up.

  • just started Shenmue 3, I'm a big fan of the first two games from the Dreamcast era
  • continue playing Sailor Moon: Another Story RPG on the SNES through RetroArch

As you can see, I'm oldschool fan. :D There are so many games installed and available to me, every time the Deck is opened up, I have choice paralyzes.

I never noticed any performance issues, even when it was still early access. It only briefly pauses when loading sections of the map.

[–] dukemirage@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I may try it again. Shortly after release it barely couldn’t hold 30fps, maybe I did something wrong.
