Comic Strips
Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
Rules
-
π Be Nice!
- Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
-
ποΈ Community Standards
- Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
- Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
- Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
- Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
-
𧬠Keep it Real
- Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
-
π½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due
- Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
- Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
-
π Post Formatting
- Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
- Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
- When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
β Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
β Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
-
π¬ Post Frequency/SPAM
- Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 π) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 π) will be removed.
-
π΄ββ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
- Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,

πΏ Moderation
- We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
- When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists
The following artists are banned from the community.
- Jago
- Stonetoss
It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.
Web Accessibility
Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.
When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:
Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

Or my Gameboy Colour
Fun fact: It was always the GameBoy Color, even in Europe.
I know, but I refuse to lower myself to dropping my Us.
Lowour*
Lower is with an "e" though.
Yes, 'twas a joke.

Always has been
Revenge for the death of its joystick. Shouldn't have played Mario party.
Mario Party. Lol
I've seen some attempts at making clear casings for new stuff, it's shit.
It worked in the 90s/early 00s because those controllers/handhelds were half empty space, a simple circuit board and a few bulky components.
Nowadays most of the time there would just be a big metal shield and a huge battery covering everything, and since it's so packed inside it doesn't really catch the light.
Like the translucent Xbox controllers ms released a couple of years ago. It basically has a shell underneath the shell.

That photo looks awesome, wonder if itβs as cool in the real world.
I kinda like how 8BitDo looks with clear cases:
True, those don't look too bad. The controller still looks a bit full, but I've seen worse.
8BitDo has been my go-to for controllers for a few years now. I have the Ultimate and Ultimate 2 (Switch (also first I got, due to controller drift) and Steam deck respectively), Pro 2 (pc, Got used to FFXIV on ps2-lik3 controller) and even a SN30 Pro (not an intentional purchase; I got scammed when buying the Ultimate 2 then forgot to return it in time and afterwards tried it for the first time and decided to to eat the cost as my own stupidity).
I like em a ton, and they're part of why I no longer am loyal to Logitech. Being loyal to them was a dumb decision anyway; I have much better replacements except for my HOTAS.
I like the SNES-inspired ones. It's always been one of my favorite controller designs, so the same with the extra sticks and buttons needed for modern games is perfect for me.
Not for everyone because some don't like how you have to let them "float" between your hands (no grip handles) and sometimes just don't get how to grip them at all (not from the bottom but diagonally).
But they're light and compact, and they've got that nice grainy texture like the SNES controller.
Now I'm sure they did it to avoid the lawsuit, but I wish they still existed in Super Famicom/EU Super NES colours. The gray/purple one is a bit boring.
I still like it even with the shields.
It also worked because circuit boards were a symbol of the modern age. They're passΓ© now (subjective but still)
Eh, Nothing (the brand) still does a pretty good job of showing off circuit board and making them look modern. Ofc they have super fancy silk screen and the PCBs are black because, as you point out green PCBs just look old now.
ayn thor looks nice. limited edition steam deck is nice.
Oh man, my original Game Boy Color was "Atomic Purple", the clear purple shell. Somewhere over the years I lost or sold it. I got another GBC later just plain yellow.
Last weekend I reshelled it in a third party atomic purple shell. My nostalgia is happy :) I see it and go "that's my gameboy!"
Now to save up for an Everdrive and toss my old games on it. Eventually I want to do the works, LCD screen with frame blending and "pixel grid" so it looks legit (or maybe just a front or backlight on the OG screen, as the screen's look is a big part of the nostalgia for me), improved sound out, and usb-c charging. But for now, a basic shell swap is good enough for me.
I've also got clear blue shells for my joycons when I replace the joysticks with hall effect ones. Have all the parts, just need to find the time. Joycon work looks like a pain in the ass from the guides and videos I've checked.
I did the USB c mod on my wiiu game pad. The convenience is exceptional
Check out the half reflective, half transmissive screen from CGS if you want a backlit screen that looks close to the original.
No programmable RGB LEDs though? It's crap. Total crap.
Those look like the guys from "Chained Together"
Man the robot uprising sucks. But at least we don't give rich pedos our money anymore
The robot uprising is a distraction from the Epstein files
Grok, generate some CSAM please.
