Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Shouldn't have wished to live in more interesting times.

[–] No_Money_Just_Change@feddit.org 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

So this all is your fault? I was looking for a single person to blame everything that is happening on!

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Glad to be a scapegoat. Blame me for your socks getting lost as well if that makes you feel better.

You don't know what was inside, do you?

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Dead skin cells, toenail clippings and some breadcrumbs from what I remember

[–] abbiistabbii@piefed.blahaj.zone 52 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

This shouldn't be the headline, the headline should be that Epstein met with Moot around the time that he launched /pol/, Which was the origin point of pizzagate and q anon, both major conspiracy theories that featured paedophilia and supported Donald Trump.

This I don't think was a coincidence.

[–] rozodru@piefed.social 9 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

all makes sense now. Epstein became buddy buddy with moot, /pol/ gets launched, is insanely influential in getting trumps first term.

I mean I used to roll my eyes at the thought that an illuminati existed but now it's clearly evident that it DOES exist and is running the whole show. Wouldn't surprise me if Epstien was also friends with spez and was influential in driving Aaron Swartz to suicide. hell I'm even questioning if that was suicide at this point.

The fact that our entire world has been essentially shaped by rich and powerful peoples desire to fuck children is absolutely fucking insane. everything at this point. I feel like everything I've ever used, enjoyed, or was passionate about was created or influenced by a pedophile. I used to use 4chan, moot is a pedophile. used to use windows, gates is a pedophile. what else?

[–] HereIAm@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

Now we pray Gaben's and Torvalds' names aren't mentioned in the Epstein files for one more day.

There's strong evidence that u/maxwellhill on reddit was the account of Ghislaine Maxwell.

Maxwellhill was a mod for /r/worldnews .

[–] jasoman@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Better start telling people you never suicidal.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 0 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

moot sold 4chan before /pol/ was launched. It's possible he didn't want to play ball with Epstein and sold it for his safety though.

My personal opinion was that it went down hill after the sale.

[–] rozodru@piefed.social 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

no Moot left the site in Jan of 2015 and handed operation over to like a few 4chan mods while he was looking for a buyer. I remember his last Q&A on the site after the fact. /pol/ launched in 2011.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Didn't he play around with a /pol/ board, but shut it down quickly? I thought it was Hiroyuki that brought it back.

[–] rozodru@piefed.social 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

possibly? I'm not sure. I know it was launched in the fall of 2011 shortly after the docs say he met with Epstein. Then apparently moot turned down a second meeting the following January. so maybe /pol/ also went away then? can't remember.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

Given these new revelations, I wouldn't be surprised if getting contacted by Epstein was a motivator for selling and getting out of the game. I remember when he was called to testify before congress, he didn't want to do it thought he could turn it down. He really only founded the site to get hentai.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 42 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Epstein on 4Chan, because of course he was.

[–] jaaake@lemmy.world 39 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

He wasn't just on 4chan. He was "friends" with Christopher Poole, aka moot, founder of 4chan.

Also it's possibly the reason /pol/ exists at all since it was created within days of them meeting and having at least an hour long conversation.

[–] paraphrand@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago

No one can ever defend 4chan to me ever again. Fuckin creeps.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

Jesus fucking shit

[–] NauticalNoodle@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

What's /pol/? --I always had understood 4chan to be a pool of degens back in the day so i never bothered to look into it very deeply.

[–] raman_klogius@ani.social 21 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Have they weaponized their autism and find Epstein in the board archives yet?

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 18 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

He had a very distinct difficulty with grammar and punctuation, it can’t actually be that hard.

[–] nocturne@slrpnk.net 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Isn't that like the majority of the 4 Chan chuds though?

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 5 points 3 weeks ago

That describes a majority of people on the internet period.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 18 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

I used to use 4chan b/. Maybe in 2007ish

It was just funny mildly offensive stuff at first. Millennial humor.

But then it just started being cp.

Like literally every 10 posts was cp.

Graphic. Real.

And I thought. Jesus. This is sick and also. I may get in legal trouble for seeing it even though I wasn't seeking it out.

I left and never went back.

I was sure it was on there and proliferating because there was an abundance of pedos using it.

[–] Karjalan@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

It blows my mind that you can just stumble across that stuff on a popular public forum

[–] 0_o7@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

And sites go offline and seized for smallest infractions but it managed to stay up very very long.

There must be a long line of rich and well connected people operating and using it.

[–] TheBlackLounge@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 weeks ago

It has better moderation than Facebook, you just see all the bad stuff because it isn't algorithmic.

[–] daannii@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

It was my first experience and I was quite shocked myself.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 3 weeks ago

Now that's certainly a headline

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Why is this the story that's spreading? Of all the bad shit this man had done, and all the still on the loose people we know were involved, posting cartoon porn doesn't even rank.

novelty.

here are 10 more documents showing that Trump & Epstein were murderous pedos. add them to the gargantuan pile of evidence we have already.

Esptein liked popular kids franchise and did r34, that's new.

it's bullshit. no justice until everyone involved is hanged, INCLUDING everything agent that saw all those allegations and decided not to investigate. Having 1 wild allegation against a hated public figure? I can understand if they had a short investigation and decided that there is no evidence. 100s of similar allegations by victims? no, you can't dismiss all of them.

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Nice one. I def ate the on.... Oh shit, of course it's fucking real.

[–] SoupBrick@pawb.social 8 points 3 weeks ago

I really believed Freddy Five Bear knew better than to associate with him. Never trust celebrities, ig.

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

Was moot on the island?

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

He was a mossad agent so maybe

[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 1 points 3 weeks ago

And moot is a CIA asset
