I dressed up as Marilyn Monroe one Halloween as a teen. The costume had the most ridiculous padding on the butt and chest, it was clearly a silly costume and not any sort of statement. The amount of vitriol I faced was eye opening for me. I’m honestly glad I did it because it showed me how people treat those that make them feel uncomfortable.
