BTW, if you own a gun, which I don't, do not say so online! There is nothing worth bragging about and you're doing nothing but identifying yourself as a target to an administration that's made it clear they see the Second Ammendment as an obstacle and are using an automated network of millions of bots to trawl the internet 24/7 for people just like you

Well you can legally manufacture your own gun, and in some states there's little to no record of legal private sales, but yeah they keep records of NICs checks (even denials.)

Not necessarily. An FFL has to keep a copy of your 4473 on their books, but it's not shared out beyond that (depends on your state of course, but I don't think it goes to the feds.). When the background check law was passed there was much concern about it creating a registry, so it's just kept on file locally and can be inspected by authorities if the need arises.

And when that FFL inevitably closes, it gets shipped off to ATF where it doesn't get scanned into the AI database that they totally don't have.

I've built three, its pretty simple. I can't say I'd recommend that someone who's never used power tools do it, but with the right tools and the jig it takes about 30 minutes to make the cuts and drill the holes
