The first part is pretty standard Bondi. And then:

You and your office must restore the rule of law, support ICE officers, and bring an end to the chaos in Minnesota. Fortunately, there are common sense solutions to these problems that I hope we can accomplish together.

First, share all of Minnesota’s records on Medicaid and Food and Nutrition Service programs, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program data, with the federal government. Allowing the federal government to efficiently investigate fraud will save Minnesota taxpayers’ money and ensure that Minnesota’s welfare funds are being used to help those in need, not enrich fraudsters.

Second, repeal the sanctuary policies that have led to so much crime and violence in your state. Removing criminal illegal aliens from Minnesota neighborhoods will save lives, and state and local officials should support this goal. All detention facilities in your state should cooperate fully with ICE, honor immigration detainers, and permit ICE to interview detainees in custody to determine immigration status. I urge you to reach an agreement with ICE that allows them to remove illegal aliens in custody of Minnesota’s prisons and jails and avoids pushing these interactions into your streets.

Third, allow the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice to access voter rolls to confirm that Minnesota’s voter registration practices comply with federal law as authorized by the Civil Rights Act of 1960. Fulfilling this common sense request will better guarantee free and fair elections and boost confidence in the rule of law.

I am confident that these simple steps will help bring back law and order to Minnesota and improve the lives of Americans.

The time has come for state and local officials in your state to change course. As the chief law enforcement officer of the United States, I am committed to enforcing federal immigration laws and keeping every American safe. Minnesota can and should be a partner with this administration. Do not obstruct federal immigration enforcement; do not allow rioters to take over the streets and houses of worship; do not hinder federal officials from investigating financial fraud and violations of election laws. Whether state and local politicians stand in the way or not, we will work every day to protect Americans and make Minnesota Safe Again. I request that you join us in that effort.

Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon has issued the following statement in response:

The answer to Attorney General Bondi’s request is no. Her letter is an outrageous attempt to coerce Minnesota into giving the federal government private data on millions of U.S. Citizens in violation of state and federal law. This comes after repeated and failed attempts by the DOJ to pressure my office into providing the same data.

Minnesota’s elections are fair, accurate, honest, and secure. Every step of the way they are organized by local officials – Minnesotans who do honest, hard work to ensure their neighbors, friends, and family have access to a secure ballot.

Our office has already provided the Department of Justice a detailed explanation of how we successfully manage and secure our voter registration files. Yet, without alleging any wrongdoing by Minnesota, the DOJ continues to demand that we disclose private data such as social security and drivers’ license information. We have repeatedly offered to disclose to the DOJ voter data that is already public, without the need to reveal private data protected by state and federal law. The DOJ has declined those offers.

Attorney General Bondi knows full well that the Governor has no formal role in managing our elections or maintaining our voter registration system. She is also well aware that this specific request is the subject of active litigation with our office.

Our position on the federal government’s request to access Minnesota voting records starts and ends with the law. The law does not give the federal government the authority to obtain this private data. Minnesota is not alone in declining to disclose sensitive personal data on voters. So far, thirty-one other states have said no. DOJ is in active litigation with twenty-four of those states– and the courts have swiftly dismissed DOJ’s claims in three of them.

In Minnesota, we will continue to follow the letter of the law, which requires us to protect the private data of our voters.

It is deeply disturbing that the U.S. Attorney General would make this unlawful request a part of an apparent ransom to pay for our state’s peace and security.

More broadly, the federal government must end the unprecedented and deadly occupation of our state immediately.

The tactics used by too many ICE agents have been dangerous, destabilizing, unnecessarily cruel, and counterproductive. They are tactics that often seem aimed at instilling fear more than protecting the public.

Finally, I have been heartened by Minnesotans’ resolve thus far to remain peaceful and law-abiding. I want to echo the calls by public officials of all kinds to de-escalate, even when the federal government appears to want escalation. We should continue to meet darkness and division with light and compassion.

"Give us your state voter rolls so we can rig elections in your state or we'll keep killing people on your streets."

[–] edible_funk@lemmy.world 8 points 8 hours ago

That's what I read.

[–] brooke592@sh.itjust.works 14 points 11 hours ago

Going after Pam Bondi would be way more effective than going after the actual ICE agents doing the murder.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 79 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

common sense

You keep using that phrase. I do not think it means what you think it means.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 4 points 9 hours ago

It's the common sense of the Mafia Don's #1 muscle man. When the Don says "deal with it", he has the common sense to say "understood".

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 50 points 15 hours ago (7 children)

Crazy bitch is going to prison when this is over.

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 10 points 9 hours ago

I agree, but what we really need is the "when this is over" part.

[–] The2b@lemmy.vg 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I would bet my mortgage thousands of times over that she won't see an indictment, much less a conviction or prison time

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago

I would bet that's because she has been shot. By either side really. Fascists aren't picky.

I don't know if I believe this anymore ☹️

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 18 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

It's certainly difficult after how Trump dodged his criminal charges.

[–] gnutrino@programming.dev 6 points 10 hours ago

Trump did but a bunch of his cronies from his first term didn't (see Michael Cohen, George Papadopoulos, Paul Manafort)

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Fuck that, let's bury her six feet under.

Actually, fuck that, dissolve her body in acid.

Eye for an eye and all that …

[–] CompostMaterial@lemmy.world 10 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Meh, I'd prefer a more permanent resolution.

[–] ReallyActuallyFrankenstein@lemmynsfw.com -2 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Ehhh...The thing about the cycle of violence is it's a circle. I'd feel better seeing her get just punishment for treason and aiding and abetting murder that lasts the rest of her life with no escape.

[–] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

The rich and powerful can never get just punishment under this system, they’ll just be pardoned as soon as someone mildly sympathetic attains power.

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Hopefully, whenever the people take back this nation they use these events as evidence for the need to do away with pardon powers.

Obama and Biden made great use of the pardon power, releasing thousands of minor drug convictions, but no one should be above the law as a matter of principle.

[–] forrgott@lemmy.zip 3 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Take back?

Claim it on the first place, I think you mean. Sorry, but it was never ours. It was never meant to be. Like, seriously, they commit genocide to destroy the only people who had a rightful claim to this land in the first place. That wasn't an act of fucking altruism.

Convincing us that the USA was ever meant to benefit the slave class is one of the biggest lies in human history.

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online -1 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

A nation which always belonged to the elite would never have tolerated a single second of Obama in power, much less two terms.

[–] forrgott@lemmy.zip 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Fucking seriously?!?

Bullshit. If you honestly think his actions didn't favor the elite, then you need to open your eyes. Because pretending he wasn't another pawn is about the dumbest goddamn take I've seen in a while.

The elite didn't want Obama? Yeah, go ahead fuck right off with that.

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 2 points 11 hours ago

You're clearly new to US History so let me summarize it for you:

the wealthy elite hate minorities and won't take orders from black people. They've got millions of other people to pick from, they simply wouldn't tolerate it. To allow Obama to represent their interests would betray their longstanding beliefs in their own superiority.

[–] forrgott@lemmy.zip 1 points 11 hours ago

I'd be able to breathe a lot easier if I knew she was dead.

I'm not saying I disagree with you, mind you. Just rather certain fuckstains were just...gone.

But, on the other hand, the paradox of tolerance can absolutely get us all killed...

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] stylusmobilus@aussie.zone 2 points 14 hours ago

Yeah that wont happen easily.

There’s going to be a fight, it just needs to happen after a new admin is put in. These people won’t go willingly and there’s a lot that need to be held accountable, including businessmen.

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 30 points 14 hours ago

removing criminal illegal aliens from Minnesota neighborhoods will save lives

At least two people have died, who weren't illegal, who weren't criminals, because of the Temu SS roaming the neighborhoods. Right now, I'll end up helping the "illegal aliens" long before I even consider assisting this regime with anything.

On a side tangent, asking me to donate to the presidential fund when submitting my taxes is a fucking slap to the face with a shit-covered dildo. Pay it yourself, grifting puppet toddler.

[–] Tempus_Fugit@lemmy.world 30 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Hey bitch, your dumbfuck jackboots are the ones making the streets unsafe. I can't wait until she fries. Evil cunt.

[–] stylusmobilus@aussie.zone 8 points 14 hours ago

Cunts have warmth and some depth.

This is a shitcunt. Not worth a cap full of cold cunt water.

[–] Oilydischarg@lemmy.world 19 points 15 hours ago

Hey Bondi, ,🖕🫵

[–] SayJess@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 14 hours ago

Wasn’t this in Andor Season 2?

Seriously, invite her to discuss all of this over a sumptuous meal at one of Minnesota's finest restaurants. Treat her with the utmost respect, listen to her arguments, and assure her they will be dealt with at the highest priority, if it will ensure the safety of Minnesotans. Shake her hand and solemnly state that this will be resolved immediately.

Beforehand, take no extraordinary steps to ensure that (why would anyone? How could such a thing happen?!) a massive dose of laxatives and fart-powder, or... something... somehow against all odds fell into her stew/soup/salad. She'll be on the plane back, an hour or so later, when it all hits, and it'll be glorious.

EDIT: sumptuous :/

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 41 minutes ago) (1 children)

What’s the charge? Eating a sumptuous meal? A sumptuous Hmong meal?
