My first attempt at snowflake macro, and while not the best I think it was a cool learning experience. Snowflakes are so beautiful. I love how nature is chock-full of fantastic fractals. Next is to attempt some focus bracketed shots. All images were quickly processed with Darktable.

I recently bought a used Oly 60mm f/2.8 macro lens and wanted to see how crisp it is at f/2.8 (f/5.6 effective aperture). this is with 26mm of extension tubes added, so 1.43x magnification. I'm quite impressed with how sharp this thing is at f/2.8. These images have been slightly touched up in Darktable.

This was a quick and dirty test on my new macro lens just to see how things turned out. I could have stopped my aperture down a bit more, but I'm happy with how this turned out. I can't wait for spring!

I took these a few days after posting my last heron photos and didn't want to spam here. A few months went by and I forgot.

I love these birds. They're so fun to watch wade around and hunt. It would truly be terrifying to be a small fish when this thing has you in its sights.

I was walking around downtown with my camera in hand and while walking next to a church caught movement out of my right eye. This whitetail doe was just walking around confused. It's not too uncommon to find deer in town, but this was like a mile away from any wooded areas. I felt bad for her because she was clearly lost, but I couldn't approach her.

Did I find an IRL shiny? Is this leucism? It's rare that I see a chickadee with white feathers in its cap.

Not exactly an uncommon bird, but a hard one to photograph because they only want to scavenge on the ground and they're wary of humans. Still a cool sighting and it looks cool perched on that tree.

I had some leftover pulled pork, cheese, veggies and an idea. I'm convinced pizza is the ultimate delivery platform, because it was great.

I was testing the magnification and sharpness of my Oly 75mm-300mm and was quite impressed with how well this turned out for how affordable the lens is. I do have a macro setup, but didn't have it with me.
