Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

General Abolfazl Shekarchi, a spokesperson for Iran's armed forces, delivered a severe threat: "Trump knows that if any hand of aggression is extended toward our leader, we not only cut that hand but also we will set fire to their world."

Can we just give him Trump and call it even? He needs to go one way or another.

Only the turd? I feel we'd be underplaying them. Why don't we offer them the whole US government, scotus, senate and congress and call it even?

[–] Switorik@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Sold! Let's start this deal as soon as possible.

Listen, I don't know how to fly a plane, but if we get all of them on one plane, I absolutely volunteer to be the pilot. I only need to handle the takeoff part and the parachuting part, so I figure it won't take as long as most for me to pick up what I need.

Use the plane Qatar gave him. Plenty of space there. It apparently only has seats for about 90 despite the model being able to carry 400. They can use Ryanair-like seating... the floor.

Just put them on a 737 MAX. Things have a way of sorting themselves out, sometimes.

I'm totally willing to risk myself fucking up the parachuting part just to add some certainty to the desired "landing".

[–] halcyoncmdr@piefed.social 2 points 1 month ago

Do it Saw-style. Give them each a parachute, that they have to pack themselves. They can make their own decision, and they have the means to solve it themselves of they choose.

Am I the only one who read this and immediately played out the scenario in my head like a Billy Mays infomercial pitch?

I hear that one country can kidnap another country's leader now.

[–] teawrecks@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 month ago

Wouldn't it be absolute insanity if Iran somehow kidnapped Trump one night?

And we're left here standing here with our Maduro in our hands. The only logical move at that point would be to promote him to president of the US.

[–] LittleBorat3@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Can't they just kidnap the Ayatollah and accidentally drop him into the sea?

One thing is as illegal as the other...

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 1 month ago

probably harder to kidnap the iranian supreme leader, since h likely has round the clock loyal security, plus hes regularly goes to russia for protection too.

[–] kikutwo@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago

The comments came after Trump described Ayatollah Khamenei in a Saturday interview with Politico as "a sick man who should run his country properly and stop killing people," adding "it's time to look for new leadership in Iran."

This is the most pot kettle black statement ever.

"Chilling"? To whom?

[–] C1pher@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Doesnt Iran have nukes already though?

[–] j5906@feddit.org 4 points 1 month ago

I mean they could build dirty bombs, rendering whole citys uninhabitable even if they are intercepted. Personally I would rather not find out.

Don’t tempt us with a good time

iran is also russia's ally, so likely putin can sic his troll farm against trump, like they did last year in june/july.
