Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Isn't that part of their job? To tour things like this?

Yes, and ICE is required by law to let them visit with no advance notice. ICE has been refusing access when they show up in advance

They've also been refusing access even they show up at an agreed, scheduled time as well. It's just a game to ICE, because refusing to comply with the law without repercussions just makes the laws dead letter faster.

Makes one wonder how many bodies they are hiding.

If the democrats miraculously manage to take back power, watch them do absolutely nothing to investigate what happened in the concentration camps

They won't even close them. Remember when Biden spent four years bragging about how many people they were deporting and then was dunking on the GOP for not passing their draconian immigration bill?

Half the reason we are even doing this is because Trump is trying to beat Bidens numbers.

The only way this ends is revolution

[–] basket@pie.gravitywell.xyz 75 points 3 days ago (1 children)

more politicians putting their bodies on the front line please.
the more headlines like this the more apathetic boomers wake up.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 32 points 3 days ago (2 children)

If only it was the boomers that had to wake up.

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Yeah there's a lotta people that need to wake up. This is gonna be a case of things getting a lot fucking worse before they start getting a bit better.

Unfortunately we have to somehow weather this storm until at least November.

To be clear, I don't think the elections (if they happen) will change anything. BUT, I can tell you a lot of liberals that would otherwise be radicalized are holding onto this idea that "democracy will save us". They will not be able to see reality until that hope comes crashing down. And even then some will still be in denial.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

Too long to wait

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago

There's no reason not to start now. Waiting until November just squanders momentum.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 days ago

If only age-cohort scapegoating did anything buy play into divide and rule.

Sadly, she is a person of color and the facists want her in prison even if she is a congresswoman. Now, if we could get a pretty white woman thrown in jail, then you might wake up some brain dead maggots.

(god it felt gross, just typing that out.)

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 12 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Just because it's gross doesn't make it not true.

BANANA!

USA is a BANANA republic. Where the rulers don't give a shit about the law.l

[–] Spezi@feddit.org 3 points 3 days ago

At this point, I trust Chiquita much more to lead the US than any of the Republicans.
