He campaigned on peace, he owes it to his voters, regardless how his international reception is.

I realize he doesn't work that way, I'm saying this to highlight the contrast.

He encouraged his supporters to be violent

He told them that their hatred was not merely justified, but righteous

I have no idea where you're getting the idea that he was ever interested in peace

His "no new wars" was one of his many transparent lies

No need to convince me, it's not like I believed him. I'm looking over the pond horrified, and kind of gave up on the US with his first election. I'm just saying technically he owes it to his voters because that's what he promised them.

He campaigned on peace

And he's a habitual, compulsive liar. Anyone stupid enough to believe his talk about peace is a fool.

And being a liar, he keeps telling his base he's ended "8 plus" wars because they're not going to bother fact checking that all were wars, that he had an actual role, and that they're actually ended.

Nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize need to be submitted by January 31, and peace-related accomplishments after that probably aren't factored into the decision-making process. So most of what Trump has done since he got back in office didn't even count for last year's award, and his new threats will count for this year's. If he understood how the award actually worked he might realize how badly he's messed up.

I'm trying to follow Trumps logic here (I realize this is a fool's errand, of course) but maybe someone can help me out.

Alfred Nobel was Swedish and used his fortune to fund a foundation that awards Nobel Prizes in the sciences and a peace prize. The foundation consists of a board of five Swedish or Norwegian citizens, with its seat in Stockholm. All prizes are awarded in ceremonies in Stockholm, except for the Peace Prize which is awarded at a ceremony in Oslo, Norway.

This part makes sense. I'm still trying to figure out where Denmark, and thus Greenland come in.

Trump feels snubbed by the Nobel foundation and blames...Denmark(!?!?) who administers and kinda oversees Greenland (their relationship is complex). And thus Trump feels entitled to annex Greenland if he wants.

It seems that by this logic I am entitled to steal your car in the grocery store parking lot because I've had at least eight sandwiches before.

I fully understand that the real reason Trump wants Greenland is to have free reign to acquire resources and of course I am against any imperialism. What I don't understand is how he is connecting Greenland and Denmark to the peace prize. Does he just group all Scandinavians together and not understand they are different countries? What is his internal logic beyond 'daddy never loved me.'

It's more simple than you think. The only connection is that he is justifying invading neighboring lands by saying it's the Nobel prize board's fault for not giving him the prize.

It's not that Greenland has to do with Norway or the Nobel prize, it's just a "Now look what you made me do" moment on the global stage.

Hell yeah! I think Gahndi had the same playbook.
