Nothing. I'm fed up with articles like those. They don't want to say "bronze age shithole."

That's partially because once they start pulling that thread, they're going to arrive at the people paying them doing a lot of bronze age shit.

One of the myriad reasons why billionaires and for profit corporations owning media is awful for journalism.

Part of the reason why Iran hates Saudi Arabia for being degenerate.

[–] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You'll have to elaborate: The guys who machine gunned their own people hate another group of guys because they are degenerates?

More like Saudi Arabia is so much like the Pahlavi dynasty the Iranians threw out.

Yeah as long as they have Saudi in the name, it won't be anything "new" or "different"

MBS is transforming Saudi Arabia from retro-medieval Wahhabi despotism to a more modern totalitarian police state, modelled on Saddam-era Iraq. For most Saudis, that's better-- there are cinemas, women can drive and have a wider range of jobs, the muttawa'a are on a tight leash. But any involvement of ordinary people in politics will get them killed, even more than under the previous kings. And the insane inequality and exploitation of the Saudi economy remains unchanged.
