This oompa loompa looking motherfucker probably couldn’t even point to Iceland on a map. These backwater idiots need to just die already.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He looks like tweedledee fucked a toad.

Funny; I joined Lemmy today in hopes of a slightly higher standard of discourse than the last platform. But, I have to admit, that's very accurate... well done.

[–] TheBunGod@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Well there are multiple instances of Lemmy if you want to try another

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

That's insulting to Oompa Loompas. Dude is Humpty Dumpty. These guys are really on the expansionist vibe. They just rooked the Americans and they think they can con the rest of us like we don't let our people go to actual school or something?!

[–] fennesz12@feddit.dk 57 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Let's see how US ambassadors and diplomats will feel in 5 years, with all the bridges to allies that are currently being burned.

[–] Carmakazi@piefed.social 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They won't be ambassadors by then, they will either agree to become quasi-military emissaries to negotiate concessions and surrenders to our dominion, or they will be retired or just killed.

[–] b_tr3e@feddit.org 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Utter nonsense. First thing you do in a military conflict is withrdawing your diplomatic personnel.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 5 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Yeah but I can totally see the Trump administration forgetting about that part and just leaving their foreign ambassadors out to dry.

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 6 points 1 month ago

Hey, then we can redundant their positions, what with the having no allies. Think of the money we could save on their salaries and flying them around. No downside at all. This is winning, right?

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 47 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So his excuse is people were joking about the US invading Greenland and so naturally they started joking about the US invading Iceland.

Yeah that tracks, a totally innocent comment that no one could possibly take offence to in any way. Except of course the US is threatening to invade Greenland so it's not really a joke. More statement of future intent.

[–] Darkmoon_AU@lemmy.zip 20 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

Even in current circumstances; your average Joe could perhaps pass the suggestion off as some kind of sardonic humour... but actually being the US Ambassador to Iceland and saying it? That's either a brain-dead lack of self-awareness, a thinly veiled 'flex' to your Republican peers or, of course, both.

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

We have a sign for that.
🤘👄Ha 🤘ha!= Ironically

Don't know it in ISL although.

[–] PlutoniumAcid@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (3 children)

I don't speak sign. What is this?

When i hear US Ambassador the first thing that comes to mind is a clown.

[–] Substance_P@lemmy.world 30 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

One Americans point of view.

[–] thejml@sh.itjust.works 33 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This strangly sounds like exactly what the goal of Trump's America First policy is.

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It is. Collapse the US economy and alienate its citizens internationally so they have no where to run. From the ashes the techbro billionaires build a libertarian hellscape of FreedomCities.

US companies won’t get expelled. They’ll be forced to rename and still funnel money. As long as the EU has capitalism it’ll find a way to get money to the US billionaires.

[–] coredev@programming.dev 2 points 1 month ago

Not expelled maybe, but the trade will totally crash. Trading with a US company will be an enormous risk and EU citizens will be fourius.

[–] Whats_your_reasoning@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago (2 children)

"I apologise it was taken that way. I was with a group of friends and there was nothing serious about it.”

Haven't we heard that enough by now to know that's a pathetic, bullshit excuse? What you say with friends reveals something about you and how you think. The guy could've said nothing and he'd have been fine, but for some reason the idea of taking over Iceland was in his mind and for some reason he felt comfortable making light of it. If infringing on another country's sovereignty is such a non-issue that he feels comfortable joking about it, he's clearly not fit to be an ambassador. (Though as a Trump-appointee, it's hardly surprising he's not fit for the job.)

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Fuck these people

I actually believe him this was just a stupid joke but I still think they should deny him entry and reject him as an ambassador because fuck him, that's why. Don't give those fuckers any benefit of the doubt, use any excuse you can get to hurt them.

[–] ruuster13@lemmy.zip 21 points 1 month ago

I was with a group of friends and there was nothing serious about it

Nice of him to summarize his entire political decision-making framework for us.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 month ago

Calling it a joke is too charitable to this fascist.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

He looks like a worthless old pedofile.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 11 points 1 month ago

In America they call that "ruling class"

[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

This Jabba the Hutt motherfucker was my rep when I used to live in that part of Missouri. He is one of the most disgusting people I’ve ever seen.

[–] HugeNerd@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 month ago

This guy heard "Danish" and thought "cheese or raspberry", the fat fuck.

[–] Arancello@aussie.zone 11 points 1 month ago

You dont have to accept the governor who’s been recommended by the us govetnment.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 11 points 1 month ago

There's a guy who has indulged every craving he's ever had.

[–] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 month ago

Let the ambassador move there then expel him a day later

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

If “does this look infected?” was a person.

[–] ThatGuy46475@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So either Canada or Greenland is off the hook

[–] rammer@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Nah, the US is going for the "easy" targets first.

My guess for the order is Greenland, Iceland, Mexico, Canada with other small Middle American countries sprinkled after Mexico and during/after Canada.

I just hope the US implodes first.

[–] PlaidBaron@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The US cant even maintain a war against rice farmers. They arent going to sustain wars against that many countries with hostile populations. The US military may be the best in the world but the US itself can barely hold itself together, let alone new territory.

Also if they invade us I will personally go down the Geneva Convention list and implement every war crime imaginable.

Big words coming from a guy looking like a molten E.T.

Go fuck yourself E.T.

[–] lechekaflan@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

This might as well where the words PERSONA NON GRATA are best applied.

[–] Tuuktuuk@piefed.europe.pub 4 points 1 month ago

I think Finland would have said bye bye to him for that. USA could then have sent someone else to replace him.
Iceland cannot, because it doesn't have an army of its own.

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Wait.. 52nd? Did something happen while I was sleeping?

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

They are assuming they will heroically conquer Greenland first. Then there seem to be about 10 other countries on the USA's "to invade" list. The USA is a sick country.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

As if the US government would grant them statehood and representation.

Trump has already called Canada the 51st. None of his yes-men would dare be caught altering the big man's numbering. Even if they do appear to be trying to obtain 52 first. Edit: Or possibly 53. Got my wires crossed between Greenland and Iceland.

(Trump hasn't quite grasped, or is refusing to acknowledge, that Canada is already split into state-like provinces, nor that those are split into counties in much the same way as US states are.)

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 3 points 1 month ago

I'm pretty sure trump is looking at a Mercator projection and going "wow look how big Canada and Greenland are!"

[–] fittedsyllabi@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Look at that fat bastard. Just look at it!

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago

I guess the american imperialist assumption is that, come hell or high water, Canada will be the 51st state, so they are already on number 52.

[–] CircaV@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 month ago

This obese thumbheaded fuckwit should not be allowed into Iceland.
