When my partner asked me that I didn't know it was a thing and stereotypically answered about once a day. I didn't get a chance to explain that it's an urbanism and critical geography thing in the same way that I think about the Catholic church at least once a day. You can't think about a history of Europe without thinking about Rome and the Christian schisms that resulted from it, and you need to think about a history of Europe to understand all the white people bullshit you're surrounded by.

I was in hiding back in those days. Because I do think about the roman empire a lot lol. But that's because I like historical materialism and the collapse of that demon slave empire is one of my favorite bedtime stories.
It wasn't because I was a chud. I hate the Romans

I remember someone asking me that on a call, and within the distance of my arm was a copy of Parenti's The Assassination of Julius Ceasar.
Pre-Empire. Doesn't count.
technically the roman empire was there from the start, because imperium means military authority over a territory. the republic had imperium. historians refer to the later periods as principate (rule by princeps, like augustus) and dominate (ruled by dominus, like diocletian).

I'm in the clear then, Octavian doesn't even factor into my thoughts. Wheew.
I am always thinking about how much i hate Rome. Unless i'm thinking about my hatred for Uruk instead. Or my hatred of the linearbandkeramik treekillers.
i live in the burger empire, how could i not think about it
True. true to be honest. Totally true. I think to much about the USA ....oh my god
the burger empire
Achaemenid Empire was pretty neat
you can tell by the way it was
In your defence, one of these is still around.
I think about the Romans a lot, but I think about Egypt and the Ottomans too. I just like Mediterranean history. I was clearly a member of the Sea People in a past life.
<- this emote but it's the Roman Legion
GET OUT OF MY HEAD OR THE TROOPS GET DECIMATED AGAIN
i had never heard of the thing but surely it depends right?
like if i'm playing rome total war or something then i think about it a lot obviously, but if i'm just doing whatever then basically never? unless i see an aqueduct or something, or it comes up in conversation?
very weird meme
Women (almost exclusively cishet from what i remember) asking their Man partners "how often do you think about the roman empire?" And filming the answers. The number of men who answered with once a day or more became an internet touchstone for a bit and so a number of people would ask their partners without filming it for reference
yeah it was kinda a thing about how you don't know what goes on in people's heads
I thought of it yesterday when I got some change & I was like damn this quarter is light, real debasing the currency hours.
Someone should do an isekai anime where the entirety of the U.S. gets sent to Roman times and has to fight the romans
That would be hilarious. People on mobility scooters with insulin pumps fighting a legion by throwing burgers at them.
When i was asked about it i said basically never because why would i?
I wrote three novels about byzantium 🤓
Burger empire? The phone game? Looks trashy.
