The most divorced character is a literal spam email and it's the funniest shit ever.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 16 points 1 day ago

Meme template also works for the chuds trying to get into any left leaning space.

Is Deltarune gay gay? Or is it just gay? Or gay gay gay? I've never played it, I've only played Undertale. I'm greyace, not quite "straight" so will I only feel like sort of an outcast if I play it?

[–] Dort_Owl@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

It's pretty gay yo. One of the main characters is a lesbian.

But like, it's not like a huge percentage of the fanbase aren't straight so I doubt you'd feel like an outcast. It's not exactly the focus of the game. It's just normal shipping shit every fandom does.

It's just a fairly normal, well written fantasy RPG. Personally I like it because it's basically Mother 3 but with more shitposty humor.

That's a comment written by a person who won't realise they're gay until 10 years from now.

[–] BountifulEggnog@hexbear.net 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I really dislike when people say homophobes are secretly gay. He's just a bigot. There's nothing in this post to show he might be gay and doesn't know it yet. Bigots aren't all gay (even if they're unaware). I'm surprised this comment is coming from you tbh.

Sure but if a person is occupying a trans space insisting they are cis I am going to assume they are an egg who hasn't yet cracked. Similarly if someone is occupying a space that is clearly an lgbt one insisting they're not lgbt I'm going to assume they're being attracted to that space for an underlying reason that they have not yet come to terms with.

[–] BountifulEggnog@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago (2 children)

He's not in an lgbt space though, he's in a Fandom complaining gay people exist in it. If that cis person went to a tabletop gaming session and complained how many trans people there were, and all they do is talk about being trans, I wouldn't think they're an egg. I'd think they're a pos who doesn't like trans people around.

[–] I_Hate_AmeriKKKa@hexbear.net 4 points 1 day ago

there are absolutely fandoms i would call lgbtq+ spaces, the post is homophobic but it strikes me more as an idiot teenager with social anxiety than chud malding about gay people being in a hobby they like

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Deltarune is significantly more of a gay game than Celeste is a trans game but I'd still say the same of someone doing this in Celeste spaces.

[–] BountifulEggnog@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I guess we just aren't going to agree on this because if someone complained about trans people sharing their experiences and how they related to Celeste in the Celeste sub I'd find that super disgusting.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I don't think I ever said it was good, just that they have not yet realised there is something underlying inside them that attracts them to that art and that space. I'm inclined to agree with you when it comes to such behaviour that is just out there outside of such spaces, but when it's happening inside these spaces there's more to it. They are in conflict with themselves, their like for the work vs the social programming telling them that it is wrong to be trans/gay/whatever, it causes them to lash out in an overcompensating and defensive way, until they realise and come to terms with themselves.

See every crash on Grindr during RNC or otherwise large grouping of right-wingers. Not necessarily a rule but definitely a pattern. They do talk a lot about patterns and the like, funny they don't have better self reflection though.

[–] Soot@hexbear.net 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Those stories are largely nothingburgers and aren't indicative of anything. Grindr won't magically crash because of an influx of users, that's not how it works. Their sole purpose is so libs can justify going "hah right wing people are gay take that" in a disgusting manner.

The purported link has been studied repeatedly, most studies find no link at all, there are few possible indications, but if it exists it's very weak.

[–] Blakey@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Grindr won't magically crash because of an influx of users, that's not how it works.

I agree with your overall point but an online service crashing due to a huge spike in users is definitely a thing.

[–] Soot@hexbear.net 1 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

But there is no 'spike' in users. The only story is existing users are moving around (which is true of.. any big movement of people). So when I say 'influx', I just mean people moving from one place to another. Nobody is possibly claiming that republican party conventions somehow make tens of thousands of people sign up to Grindr, right?

[–] Commiechameleon@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Well, unfortunately I'll have to disagree somewhat because the amount of conservative gays(dls mostly) I've had the displeasure of speaking to, one of which heavily recommended 2000 mules. However I wouldn't put it past a lib to own the rightoids by stretching the truth more than a fair bit.

I'll be looking into it though, sounds concerning melon-musk

[–] Soot@hexbear.net 2 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Aye, I get it. But best I can ever tell, the research just doesn't agree that it's a thing. Don't mind being proved wrong.

ive had a similar feeling in the past (certainly wouldnt have worded the post like that) and for me it was because i turned out to be aro/ace

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 11 points 1 day ago

Classic DARVO, and no self-reflection on “huh, is this how I treat others? Guess it is wrong after all.”

Bro can’t even identify himself in the mirror.

if angloids were alright, this would cause empathy to occur. unfortunately, the bit of their brains that should learn from this has been severed

My brain's first reaction is that this was written by a misguided child. My brain is trying to shield me from the knowledge that adults can think like this

All dumb internet comments are from a 12 year old or AI I will not entertain other options my psyche can’t take it

i imagine this person just has really bad social anxiety and is an idiot. probably a teenager. i struggle to imagine any kind of chud liking a game like deltarune enough to want to be part of its fandom. hell even using the word fandom is kinda rare among chuds in my experience. anyways i think this poster should potentially be given a little grace unless they're just a rare type of chud im not really familiar with.

(nb: not saying this post isnt homophobic but ive kinda had a similar feeling in the past just being into fanfiction, i always felt too intimidated to actually participate in fanfic communities because i felt like i didnt fit in being "straight", however ive always felt like that for my whole life about any community and my actual discomfort i think i was feeling was that I turned out to be aro/ace and was just super uncomfortable with all the romance and shipping wars everywhere)

Time to double down on the gay now.

[–] BountifulEggnog@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago
