Sure but if a person is occupying a trans space insisting they are cis I am going to assume they are an egg who hasn't yet cracked. Similarly if someone is occupying a space that is clearly an lgbt one insisting they're not lgbt I'm going to assume they're being attracted to that space for an underlying reason that they have not yet come to terms with.

He's not in an lgbt space though, he's in a Fandom complaining gay people exist in it. If that cis person went to a tabletop gaming session and complained how many trans people there were, and all they do is talk about being trans, I wouldn't think they're an egg. I'd think they're a pos who doesn't like trans people around.

there are absolutely fandoms i would call lgbtq+ spaces, the post is homophobic but it strikes me more as an idiot teenager with social anxiety than chud malding about gay people being in a hobby they like

Deltarune is significantly more of a gay game than Celeste is a trans game but I'd still say the same of someone doing this in Celeste spaces.

I guess we just aren't going to agree on this because if someone complained about trans people sharing their experiences and how they related to Celeste in the Celeste sub I'd find that super disgusting.

I don't think I ever said it was good, just that they have not yet realised there is something underlying inside them that attracts them to that art and that space. I'm inclined to agree with you when it comes to such behaviour that is just out there outside of such spaces, but when it's happening inside these spaces there's more to it. They are in conflict with themselves, their like for the work vs the social programming telling them that it is wrong to be trans/gay/whatever, it causes them to lash out in an overcompensating and defensive way, until they realise and come to terms with themselves.

See every crash on Grindr during RNC or otherwise large grouping of right-wingers. Not necessarily a rule but definitely a pattern. They do talk a lot about patterns and the like, funny they don't have better self reflection though.

Those stories are largely nothingburgers and aren't indicative of anything. Grindr won't magically crash because of an influx of users, that's not how it works. Their sole purpose is so libs can justify going "hah right wing people are gay take that" in a disgusting manner.

The purported link has been studied repeatedly, most studies find no link at all, there are few possible indications, but if it exists it's very weak.

I agree with your overall point but an online service crashing due to a huge spike in users is definitely a thing.

[–] Soot@hexbear.net 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

But there is no 'spike' in users. The only story is existing users are moving around (which is true of.. any big movement of people). So when I say 'influx', I just mean people moving from one place to another. Nobody is possibly claiming that republican party conventions somehow make tens of thousands of people sign up to Grindr, right?

Well, unfortunately I'll have to disagree somewhat because the amount of conservative gays(dls mostly) I've had the displeasure of speaking to, one of which heavily recommended 2000 mules. However I wouldn't put it past a lib to own the rightoids by stretching the truth more than a fair bit.

I'll be looking into it though, sounds concerning melon-musk

Aye, I get it. But best I can ever tell, the research just doesn't agree that it's a thing. Don't mind being proved wrong.
