Me lol, I basically got perm banned for jokingly saying something along the line of setting someone on fire on a Minecraft post about flint and steel, I guess Reddit mods (if they actually a human and not a bot) can't differentiate what is a real threat and what is a video game mechanic. It was like 9 months ago but despite I appeal like every day, my account never got unbanned RIP.
I wonder if anyone have any ways to use Reddit again, look as much as I love Lemmy, there are things that I can't do on Lemmy like on Reddit including things that is related to my career/job as Reddit is much larger and Lemmy is much more niche for this type of question/discussion.
I used to be on Reddit lots before the API madness, and relied on third party clients like RedReader, Slide (my favorite) and Relay. After that, I no longer visited Reddit semi-regularly, and it was just on one off occasions. I even ran the script to scramble my posts. A few years later and now I'm here.
Yup, came here after the API changes that basically blocked 3rd party clients.

I was on Reddit for 13 years. I scrambled every single post I had made before deleting my account when the 3rd party apps fell. Never looked back.
I still have my reddit account, but I got all my data deleted via a GDPR request. I'm never at reddit at all, I actually prefer Lemmy way more.
I also prefer Lemmy. Reddit had a few niche hobby subreddits that I do miss, but the greedy pigboy Spez won't be getting any contribution from me ever again.
Same here. Once RIF was blocked, there was no way I could stay on the site given I'd never use the official app. Plus there was the whole principle of the thing.
At this point I don't view myself as a Reddit refugee and just consider myself a Lemmy user.

I came here as part of my migration to #Fediverse to escape undemocratic structures. I do this step by step as I still follow some valuable subreddits. But I gradually phase out.
Interesting take, isn't Lemmy less democratic since admins have total control?
You can setup your own server or organize one. That freedom is a foundation for democratic structures.

Lemmy is 50% people who hate Reddit for giving the volunteer mods too much power to shape their communities, and 50% people who hate Reddit for not giving the volunteer mods enough power to shape their communities.
And no they don't get along here either.
A lot of us are here following the API changes which is totally tangential to that.

I stopped using reddit years before Lemmy became a thing. I became a redditor back when Digg was still a thing, but reddit became worse and worse, and rediquette was basically unknown and never followed when I left.
Rediquette was actually one of the things that made reddit great, unfortunately we don't have that here, but things haven't devolved as bad here as they did on reddit.
Not banned specifically, but I came here because I wanted to run some communities, but ultimately it was impossible on Reddit. All the names are taken, all the aging mod teams set in stone. You essentially have no meaningful opportunity to build anything new on there. In contrast, and especially with federation, the Fediverse is a completely different system. A fresh start - still after 2 years. And it has way better internal advertisement of communities than Reddit does.
And to be clear, on Reddit you can easily just shout into the wilderness at no-one. Big audience means you can get drowned out.
