"Pro-Peace Ticket" BTW.

[–] bstix@feddit.dk 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If he doesn't want Russia as neighbor, he probably shouldn't invade a country that has Russia as neighbor.

[–] CaptPretentious@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

Maybe we need to give up Alaska... I hear you can see Russia from your backyard!

"The fact that they had a boat land there 500 years ago doesn't mean they own the land"

Do I even need to point out the hypocrisy of a US American saying that?

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 26 points 3 days ago

Hey, our boat landed here 419 years ago. That's totally different, see.

[–] Mantzy81@aussie.zone 14 points 3 days ago

I mean, Danish boats also landed in the future US territories at that time too so I guess it's time for the US to be under Danish rule. Finally, some civility will arrive.

He's barely an American. He's the grandson of an immigrant, son of an anchor baby and an immigrant, and an anchor baby himself.

Oh, and his grandfather also had "bone spurs," and fled to the US from Germany to avoid WWI. He started a brothel in Alaska, and got run out of town by the local population just after WWI ended. Then his criminal pimp of a grandfather went back to Germany, was arrested and kicked out of the country, and went back to NYC where he naturally fell in with the mob.

"Not going to have Russia or China as a neighbor"? I guess hes going to have to give Alaska to Canada or something if he wants to achieve that.

[–] Nastybutler@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

I'm all for that

[–] ABetterTomorrow@sh.itjust.works 51 points 3 days ago (1 children)

But we are Russia’s neighbor……. Alaska is right next door.

[–] Xbeam@lemmy.world 42 points 3 days ago

He probably thinks that Alaska is on the far left and Russian is on the far right because he doesn't understand globes.

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Can someone please just kill this man already?

Or at least say "Hey...dumbshit...Russia is ALREADY your neighbour. It's called Alaska fuckhead."

[–] III@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Wasn't he once floating the idea of selling Alaska to Russia? Maybe that's his fix for having Russia as a neighbor.

[–] H3mp79@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

You calling them bootlicker?

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 2 days ago

He saved Nato? He's the single biggest threat to Nato, lol.

[–] Hermit_Lailoken@lemmy.world 43 points 3 days ago

I am sick of this disgusting human being.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Russia is going to invade a NATO nation with an active American military base on it? Seems like that angle is already covered....

Stop saying this is about American security interests in Greenland, you already have that covered, with help from NATO. Conquering Greenland would weaken the defense situation by alternating all the NATO allies.

Trump wants more land, and depending on the projection of the projection of the map he is looking at, he may think he's conquering something the size of North America.

Oh, and it conveniently completes surrounding Canada with USA, seems like maybe Canada really should just submit to the USA...

Warming may make that a very attractive hub for ships...

Oh and of course some untapped resources in the ground ..

[–] Alloi@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

regardless of the choices our government makes on that front, ill personally be dying a canadian citizen. and everyone i know personally whos able bodied feels the same way.

we are already gathering the things we may need for a prolonged invasion, for safety purposes ill leave it at that.

but long story short, the united states will never financially recover from this.

[–] NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social 39 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Who needs Russia for a neighbour when you have Russia in your President

[–] leftascenter@jlai.lu 18 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Russia is a neighbor to Alaska.

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 24 points 3 days ago

Yeah, Sarah Palin can see it from there and everything.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 16 points 3 days ago (1 children)

That child rapist is a dumb insufferable cunt. Why has no one taken him out...

I have no idea on why you guys would vote him in once, let alone twice.
I didn't forget what a total cunt he was in his first term. And I judged the us population harshly for it. This second term is unforgivable. Just unforgivable. Generations of people will judge you on this, for either voting for him or enabling him by not voting at all. The majority of you are to blame for this.

[–] hamid@crazypeople.online 4 points 2 days ago

American elections aren't democratic, they're kayfabe contests that are highly controlled and manipulated.

[–] borQue@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 days ago

yep. You were on a boat aswel 500 years ago, except you killed all the natives and took their land. idiot

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 34 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Greenland is not neighboring the US, it's neighboring Canada.

China or Russia can't take over Greenland as they don't have the power projection to do so, Greenland has a literal US base on it and Greenland is part of Denmark who is a member of NATO.

Also a boat landed in the US 500 years ago too so that means the US doesn't own the land either. Time to give it back to the Natives.

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 23 points 3 days ago

Also, you know what DOES neighbor the US? Fucking Russia.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 2 days ago

china is more interested in just natural resources that they can extract more eaisly, greenland is just too far away for them.

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 7 points 3 days ago

You can't just, like, own land, dude.

Greenland is part of NATO. Russia attacking NATO is (was) equivalent of starting was with US and 31 other countries.

US attacking Greenland will destroy NATO.

[–] MyTurtleSwimsUpsideDown@fedia.io 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The US attacking Greenland has got to be treason, right?

The North Atlantic Treaty is a full on treaty ratified by congress, not just some rinkydink international “agreement” like the Paris climate accords. A ratified treaty supersedes all other state and federal law second only to the constitution.

Article 5

The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and…

Now I’m no constitutional scholar, but I’m pretty sure that “all” means “ALL”. Wouldn’t an attack against Greenland be equivalent is the eyes of the law (whatever that’s worth nowadays) to an attack against the US, even if perpetuated by USians?

[–] Tyrq@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 3 days ago

Any of this is only true if anyone has the will and ability to do something about it

[–] TheFogan@programming.dev 19 points 3 days ago (1 children)

and to top it off... if we don't do it someone else will...

Umm... isn't that the whole point of these treaties... Literally the whole concept is superpowers behave with other developed nations because... all other nations are supposed to draw the line after one nation starts making signs of attacking. It's literally what the lesson learned in the world wars was... was to band together, we did a really bad job for Russia/Ukrain, but I really hope the world actually takes some firm action if trump seriously moves forward.

[–] Endymion_Mallorn@kbin.melroy.org 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He doesn't see those as having any value. Treaty enforcement won't hurt him personally, so there's nothing stopping him.

[–] kkj@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

If the treaties are even enforced in the first place.

[–] Randelung@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago

So word for word what Putler said about Ukraine.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

He rapes children

„If we don‘t do it, someone else will!“ or „To stop evil we must be even worse!“

Right out if the mass destruction/AI hype playbook. Villains love to use that excuse.

[–] LibertyLizard@slrpnk.net 11 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Same exact logic the USSR used against Poland. Imperialism is always the same everywhere, sadly.

Don’t worry. I won’t go to war for Trump against a partner.

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Right, if I don't attack our allies China and Russia will... wtf

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 7 points 3 days ago (2 children)

They know they have limited time and are running out of opportunities to do all their fascist nonsense so they're cramming it all in as fast as possible.

This is all great, it's a sign that the whole debacle is crumbling. I have no idea what's going to happen with Greenland, but whatever the outcome it won't impact the US any worse than what we're already experiencing.

But we have a day of great celebration ahead of us, and most bets place that day as happening sometime this year.

What is this blathering dickhead talking about?

ALL he has ever done is shit all over NATO and threaten to pull out.

His aides need to put one of his Depends over his mouth with how much fetid shit is just pouring out.

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 days ago

Russia and China have zero chance of taking over Greenland in the way he plans what he means it is possible China at the very least may get some access to resources.
