That's their entire propaganda technique.

Notice how in the BBC "reporting" the Israelis always "say" or "state" things, whilst the Palestinians only ever "claim" and Israelis "are killed" whilst Palestinians only ever "die".

This kind of shit, selective reporting and selective agrandizing is pretty much the entire "Opinion Forming" methodology of the BBC.

BBC isn't trustworthy news

[–] pewgar_seemsimandroid@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 4 days ago (2 children)

you should know that people can see the .ml

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 6 points 4 days ago

and now people can see how ignorant you are.

[–] StupidBrotherInLaw@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Yeah mate, you sure showed them! That'll teach them to belong to... the second largest Lemmy instance.

Do you think before you comment or is it more like The Sound and The Fury but if Faulkner had a severe brain injury? Trickle of consciousness.

~~Source is some political influencer paying Elon Musk for better reach on Twitter who reposted this:~~

~~Literally anyone can observe wording in BBC headlines (a side hobby for many) and come up with an image like this. Not really "caught".~~

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 61 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Misk your takes are normally pretty good, but not this time.

  • Pretty much every journalist still uses Twitter, and yes they pay for the blue badge. The BBC themselves pay Twitter even more for a gold badge. You've used loaded language to frame a completely normal thing as a negative to smear this journalist.

  • Owen Jones is not just "some political influencer" (once again loaded language), he is a journalist who writes for The Guardian and contributes to the New Statesman, Tribune, and The National and was previously a columnist for The Independent.

  • If Owen Jones has somehow faked this evidence, the BBC will be coming after him for libel. This is not something he would do for shits and giggles, making such a claim has strong real world implications that he must feel comfortable that he can defend in a court of law.

[–] misk@piefed.social 40 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I stand corrected. I have trouble with treating people who are still active on Twitter seriously, hence the snark.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 25 points 5 days ago

It's understandable, everyone really needs to get off Twitter and stop giving it any legitimacy. I'd even settle for them using BlueSky at this point.

[–] Gaja0@lemmy.zip 6 points 5 days ago

Accountability 😍

[–] rimu@piefed.social 12 points 5 days ago (1 children)

BBC was especially blatant during Gulf War 2 also.

[–] misk@piefed.social 10 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I'm a fan of "Hamas-run Ministry of Health" thing they did, which changed only when even UK government was pressured into being mildly concerned with the ongoing genocide.

[–] Shamber@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Hats off to you sir,not many have caught on to this, and it's not only the bbc, it most of the western media, including Denmark where I'm from, exact same line translated to all languages, as if the live stream of a full on genocide is not enough, we also have to systematically through shade on any casualty numbers, and undermine every source including the UN

[–] Socialism_Everyday@reddthat.com 8 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Fucking wild seeing people running to defend the journalistic standards of openly genocidal Zionist BBC in 2026. Have you not learned anything over the past 2+ years of genocide of Palestinians?

[–] 0_o7@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 days ago (2 children)

You know how tankies from ML turn up and defend any discussion critical of China and Russia?

Similarly, there are wankies who's default mode is to believe everything the western media says and use their propaganda taking points and deflect criticism.

Lemmyverse is a fun place where both get called out.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 3 points 5 days ago

Nah Misk is a good person, and they're happy to call out the western media and have rightfully done so many times before.

[–] Socialism_Everyday@reddthat.com 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Well, it helps that China is not invading any sovereign country or arming and funding genocide in Palestine.

Adrian Zenz, the only guy, who's never been to China, that is ever getting quoted by every sinophobic BBC article.

[–] pressanykeynow@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Ah, ok, few evidence of the genocide, noted. Anything about Tibet?

[–] BigBenis@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

All these institutions who've built their legacy on "trust" have really shown their true colors over the last 5 years. Maybe it was about integrity at some point but now it's all about pandering to the people in power if not being directly influenced by those in power to abandon their values in favor of producing propaganda for them.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 44 points 5 days ago (3 children)

To learn who rules over you simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.

[–] cassandrafatigue@lemmy.dbzer0.com 22 points 5 days ago (1 children)

The UK being ruled by foreign pedophiles doing imperialism! They've only ever been good at two things. There goes their national identity.

[–] jasoman@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Like Rammstein said. We all live in America....

[–] crapwittyname@feddit.uk 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Just fyi you're quoting a neonazi there.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Voltaire? He's a French anarchist

[–] Slashme@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

That quote is often misattributed to Voltaire, but it's actually by Kevin Alfred Strom, an American neo-Nazi who pled guilty to possession of CSAM in 2008.

[–] crapwittyname@feddit.uk 2 points 4 days ago

I'm glad you're able to criticise him. The cunt.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Why would the BBC criticise? It isn’t their remit.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

No shortage of criticisms broadcast by the BBC, both via staff and guests.

Curious that they'd draw the line here.

[–] Socialism_Everyday@reddthat.com 32 points 5 days ago

You're telling me that pro-genocide Zionist media will not faithfully report on Venezuela? Can't believe it!!!!!!!!!!!

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 14 points 5 days ago

He wasn't kidnapped. He was presinapped.

[–] FundMECFS@anarchist.nexus 8 points 4 days ago

For those who aren’t acquainted with the right wing “coup” inside the BBC. This short video should help.

Led By Donkeys Video

you mean the British Propaganda Channel?

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 15 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Say it like it is, wtf. What, the orange cancer gonna say mean things about you oh no. Stop caving to bullies.

Good god I can't wait for the day. And I don't even need to say what. Front page news. Very nice.

[–] regedit@lemmy.zip 2 points 5 days ago

I will call in to work pre-shitfaced, even if it's the middle of the night!

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

No act of war, no kidnapping, just ignore everything that is happening.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

i prefer abducted because kidnapped implies child.

[–] user224@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You're telling me a kid has napped and people are mad about it?

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That child will now miss their regular bedtime and be up all night do you know what you have done‽ No pudding for you, no pudding for your children, no pudding for your grandchildren, for three meals.

[–] Slashme@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat‽

"Nicolas Maduro was captured Saturday while his kidnapped on the sofa." - Disgruntled BBC Journalist

[–] gustofwind@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago

Nobody knows how but the DEA agents just walked into his bedroom and arrested him

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

This being said the day after people said that the BBC is neutral despite its continued biases to people of color, queer, and support of various wars is funny.

But the BBC does it so it's fine. If you disagree with their mantras of how when your country does it it's good, you're actually pro-[bad country of the year].

[–] Jaberw0cky@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago

I would have gone with abduction personally.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

this is what garbae journalism looks like
