Generous to give him 10 seconds

[–] Ryanmiller70@lemmy.zip 14 points 2 days ago

5 seconds at the most since that's what YouTube SONETIMES gives. That's only if you feel like treating them like a human and not what they actually are.

Everybody who works in advertisement should be reeducated to do some productive work for society instead. Like caring for old people, cleaning parks, repairing roads ...

Ah, here go the COMMUNISTS again, with their "caring for the elderly", and "cleaning up public spaces".

Do they wash their human-skin-suit by hand, in a laundry machine, or get it drycleaned?

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago

They rub it naked on a wizards beard.

My brother-in-law also refuses to use adblockers. He prefers to pay YouTube to not enshittify his watching experience. How a man on disability can justify that cost I do not know.

[–] ttyybb@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Its a fair mentality, but there doing it wether you pay them or not

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago

Giving them money just provokes further entshittification, because it gives them pointers as to what kind of shittification they can charge money for.

Kid should get a shovel to the face. No grace period.

More shovels to the face. That's the power of the Home Depot.

The thing is, as long as money rules the planet, everyone's morality has a price. I think that's what the thing about Judas meant to convey. Or Jesus fucking shit up in the temple, for that matter.

I am a hardcore idealist. Would I help google for $100000K? No. Would I do it for a million? Uh. Would I do it for ten million? Yes. I can't justify that other than saying that I would be able to do some extreme good for humanity with that money, start schools, bring people out of poverty, help research eco-friendly fuels, grant scholarships...

But the problem will always remain- the people who have the money to grant me ten million will ultimately have the power to influence others to commit immoral acts, because that's the power of money, and as long as money rules our societies, it means that those with the most money in the world will effectively be in power of the world, which is exactly what we see.

I'm stating the obvious, I suppose, but it seems we are all so deep into the cult of capitalism that we take it for granted and don't remind ourselves enough that the economic system that has usurped our democracies worldwide lies at the deepest core of our problems as a civilization, and they will not go away until we get rid of it and replace it with something far more equitable.

We need revolution.

[–] ngdev@lemmy.zip 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

you wouldnt do it for $100000K but you would do it for less than that? (you put a K on there making it 100m which is > 10m)

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world -2 points 2 days ago (3 children)

they might be in one of those weird places where a billion is a million million instead of a thousand million and got threwed off

[–] wieson@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Every Indo-European language other than english:

10^6 = Million
10^9 = Milliarde
10^12 = Billion
10^15 = Billiarde

But the 100KK > 10M works in both systems.

[–] tomiant@piefed.social 5 points 2 days ago

Yeah the $ prefix and millions/billions throws me off sometimes when I USA.

[–] ngdev@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

is that like base 1000 math? that would get me threwed off somethin fierce

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is what the Effective Altruists were supposed to be but they somehow managed to fuck it up with narcissism like billionaires always do.

[–] Saledovil@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

People claim to be effective altruists when they can't claim that they're altruists.

[–] Don_alForno@feddit.org 2 points 2 days ago

it means that those with the most money in the world will effectively be in power of the world, which is exactly what we see.

Wealth is power, which is why wealth, like power, must be limited.

[–] ReplicantBatty@lemmy.one 21 points 2 days ago

That's about 9 more seconds than I would give

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 9 points 2 days ago

The kid needs broccoli hair to make it perfect
