The best outcome for Iran is for things to calm down. This is intended to upset Iranian officials to cause escalation. Regime change thrives on unrest and unrest gets worse rather than better when a state escalates.

it only takes a couple of agents shooting into the crowd or the police and/or dispensing molotovs and homemade explosives in order to turn a protest into a bloody massacre. this is especially common in small border cities where they can smuggle weapons much more easily. i saw a video (i hope it was fake) of a corpse with his entire hand gone and the rest was degloved, probably because a homemade grenade went off in his hand. shit didn't used to be like this.
