A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

Those companies can't even stop their stuff from using em-dashes, so I unironically wish them good luck, they'll need it

Wow, basic safeguards and guidelines for AI? China doing what the US refuses to.

That means US companies will have to give up on the Chinese ai market.

I'm sure this will be successful

More a move to extend totalitarian surveillance to new technology, though. I think it's just mildly about AI in specific. I mean the Chinese government also regulates information and how much people are allowed to play online games. And since they're at the forefront of AI, they regulate these kinds of things in a timely manner. I mean they (and other governments) want AI. But they also want it to be in line with their goals. And I suppose that's the main motivation behind this. Interestingly enough the US government does the opposite of this. They remove regulation. But there's also a reason why they do that.
