I hope this really happened. That's so fucking funny.

These are the kind of productivity increases we’ve been waiting to see

I’d happily empty an aquifer for this.

I guess you lookup the address on google street view? Otherwise how would the door look so similar

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 32 points 5 days ago

That would explain the angle, but another solution is to just stop by the door and take a picture yourself, which is still probably less than half of the normal driving.

Way back when Stable Diffusion first came out, people noticed that you can give it an address and it'll guess roughly the right kind of building fairly often. I assume the current generators can too

I think people can put a picture of their front door on the app to help couriers

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 38 points 5 days ago (1 children)

This is why I always tip and meet my driver outside for my groceries, I'm not a treatlerite about it.

[–] FALGSConaut@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

On the very rare occasions I order delivery I always meet them outside/go to their car, just feels polite to minimize the time the driver has to do the delivery. The only time I've used contactless is if I'm actually sick

[–] blunder@hexbear.net 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Same, I did contactless when I had covid and still I was shouting thank you!!! through the door when the person came. Like there is value in these services to folks who aren't so mobile or in some kind of pinch but I just cannot fathom people who design to completely ignore the delivery person on the regular like they do not exist and the food just fucking appeared there by magic. Like, that person is doing you a fucking solid! Go be nice to them!

sorry for maximum profits we must all be perfectly smooth ball bearings suspended in a thick gel of anonymous transactions

ermagerd AI is replacing delivery drivers

Tbh if you're able-bodied and too fucking lazy to go through the McDonald's drive through yourself then you deserve whatever happens to your bag of slop

Hey man, this guy worked 8 long hours at the bullshit factory, writing how economic bubbles are good akschually, because they lead to such great innovations as fracking. He needs his treats delivered and ideally shoved right into his gaping mouth, so he can go back to giving us such stellar fucking insights.

When I had an office job our manager would Doordash McDonald's to the office on a regular basis. The McDonald's was literally a two minute drive away. Drive-thru only, even. Like, I could understand getting something from a fast casual place where driving there and getting out of your car and standing in line might be inconvenient on a limited lunch break, but fucking McDonald's?

oh shit i need to get in on this grift before it's too late

edit: I would never advocate commiting fraud but theoretically you could use ai to create a fake id and get it past the automated checks that these apps use, get paid and send the money to a paypal account made with the same fake credentials, buy crypto and transfer it to yourself (to an account that you've taken great pains to keep truly anonymous), and change fake IDs when they ban your account. "Work" in a busy city far away from where you actually live with a vpn via an emulated cell phone with spoofed gps data, maybe even automate all of this somehow.

On one hand, lmao owned

On the other hand, cringe AI

truly a mixed bag on this one
