Another file released on Tuesday is a letter that appears to have been sent by Jeffrey Epstein to Larry Nassar, the US gymnastics team doctor convicted of sexually abusing scores of young gymnasts, while he was in jail.

In the letter, postmarked 13 August 2019 and sent from jail, the letter reads:

"Dear L.N. as you know by now, I have taken the “short route” home. Good Luck! We share one thing … our love & caring for young ladies at the hope they’d reach their full potential. Our president also shares our love of young, nubile girls. When a young beauty walked by he loved to “grab snatch,” whereas we ended up snatching grub in the mess halls of the system. Life is unfair. Yours, J. Epstein."

In a post on X earlier, the US justice department said that some of the documents it has released “contain untrue and sensationalist claims made against President Trump that were submitted to the FBI right before the 2020 election. To be clear: the claims are unfounded and false, and if they had a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already.”

It doesn't just mention Trump.

It plainly confirms Trump is a pedophile from Epstein's own words.

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 47 points 3 months ago

Yeah it's disapointing to see the guardian slowballing an explosive headline.

Epstein tells fellow child rapist trump is one of us but we're in jail.

[–] FishFace@piefed.social 4 points 3 months ago

But it doesn't, and that's why it couldn't be the headline.

It doesn't say "trump was sexually attracted to girls under 18" it says he assaulted "young ladies". And that might be splitting hairs when it comes to how big of a scumbag he is, but it very much is not when it comes to writing a headline.

Further, it's not like every letter Epstein wrote was the god's honest truth, so the headline would have to convey that too. Again, we know enough about trump that we're reading that as likely true because we know he's a rapist anyway, but that doesn't mean you can legally print it as "confirmation" as you put it.

We had Trump's own words years ago. How much more do we need?

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 48 points 3 months ago

The sitting president of the United States of America is a child rapist.

And conservatives are rallying behind that child rapist.

Seems the only reason this one slipped out to the public is the missing search term "Trump" didn't flag this for review. Crazy how two of the most prolific sexual predators are jealous of what Trump got away with. Crazier still that people will continue to vote for and give money to Trump, the pedo's pedo.

Also in the trove of files are photos of the fake Austrian passport uncovered from a safe during a 2019 FBI raid of Epstein’s home in Manhattan after his arrest of federal sex trafficking charges.

Counterfeit is the word you want I believe.

A fake dollar bill has a photo of a Muppet on it and is red.

A counterfeit dollar bill is intended to be passed as authentic.

This feels too on the nose to be real.

[–] eletes@sh.itjust.works 12 points 3 months ago (3 children)

It was sent either the day his island got raided by the FBI or around that time. He probably knew it was coming and maybe wanted to leave some bread crumbs.

Otherwise yeah this feels like a sloppy plot point of a movie

Life is stranger than fiction

Last Podcast on the Left: Side stories has been covering the news and he did not know he was going to be arrested when he was. The emails show he was planning on meeting with Steve Bannon that afternoon to talk about doing a documentary to revive his public image.

Someone above also noted that the letter was postmarked 3 days after his death so he likely sent it out the day he died.

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 months ago

This probably explains it. Why else would they delete it? With as connected as this dick was, I wouldn't be surprised if there were more instances like this. I hope they come out.

[–] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 9 points 3 months ago

That'll be the narrative. Epstein was already caught and he's just slinging dirt.

But if, as this letter alludes, he did commit suicide then what would be the motive for lying?

[–] NotSteve_@piefed.ca 6 points 3 months ago

That seems like a good tagline for this past decade or two

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Postmarked Aug 13, 2019. Epstein was found dead on Aug 10, 2019.

[–] HellsBelle@sh.itjust.works 20 points 3 months ago (1 children)

As he mailed it from jail, and guards don't go running to the PO to send inmate's letters, this can be explained by bureaucracy.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 8 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Oh, of course. I didn't mean it to read like OMGZORZ CONSPRIACY!!! (At least not that way.)

I was thinking more along the lines of "Dude was sending this kind of thing out from jail, they read everything before it goes out, how many other incriminating things did he write, how many other people did he implicate, it's no wonder Jeffery Epstein didn't commit suicide."

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 13 points 3 months ago (2 children)

Well he did write in the letter than "as you know by now I took the "short route" home" which to me sounds like "you've probably heard about my suicide by now."

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 4 points 3 months ago

Ohhh yeah, that's a good point.

[–] ChunkMcHorkle@lemmy.world -1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Honestly, I still don't think he killed himself. But if he was sending shit like this out in bulk (how would we ever know?) suicide may have been his plan and others simply moved up his departure date.

Jails/prisons do indeed read everything that goes in and out, and this was no regular prisoner. It's not a stretch to think they killed him to stop him from sending even more of these.

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 months ago

Yeah its definitely mysterious especially with the "broken" cameras and "full unedited footage release" that had missing time, but I wouldn't put it past him doing it himself considering he knew his number was up this time.

None needed, I was unclear. Your comment rightfully brought my oversight to my attention, and allowed me to correct it. Thank you.
