So it hides the evidence of crime?
Fuck AI
"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"
A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.
AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.
In this case, the people running the company are (probably) hiding evidence. They are almost certainly breaking the law, since the discovery request would have included a general request for anything related to the murder suicide, and there's basically 0% chance that nothing related happened on ChatGPT in the time between the murder and suicide.
ChatGPT is going to lose badly, and the grandson knows it.
I bet they settle out of court for massive amounts of money - and that they consider it worth it to avoid the even worse press that complying with the discovery process would have revealed.
Troublingly, some of the last logs shared online showed that Soelberg also seemed to believe that taking his own life might bring him closer to ChatGPT. Social media posts showed that Soelberg told ChatGPT that “[W]e will be together in another life and another place, and we’ll find a way to realign[,] [be]cause you’re gonna be my best friend again forever.”
But while social media posts allegedly showed that ChatGPT put a target on Adams’ back about a month before her murder—after Soelberg became paranoid about a blinking light on a Wi-Fi printer—the family still has no access to chats in the days before the mother and son’s tragic deaths.
Catastrophically expensive technology proves mostly useless except in driving troubled people very insane; extremely unethical corporation hides evidence. Film at 11.
