I feel like I'm dumb because the movie was great, but I don't really relate to the level of hype and critical reviews for this movie. May be some finer things flew above my head.

You have pretty much summed up everything PTA has made since The Master.
I don’t get the praise his movies have gotten since.
S/O and I watched it several days ago - gorgeous cinematography and a lot of really cool, isolated moments - but as a whole - meh. Didn't connect with me in a way I wished it would. Felt a little bit like it loved the smell of it's own farts. Felt very long too. Dunno. Had to wake her up by the credits.
