I find it a bit weird that this video takes the position that players overwhelming taking good options is A) a problem B) which should be solved by making the evil options more tempting.

it could be an indication that the choices aren't interesting enough and that's a writing problem at least.

why bother making both if nobody is going to play them?

I think the idea of a morality system where the evil option gives you more stuff, but the good option actively helps people more would work better. People don't actually do evil IRL for the lulz.

But gamers love to min/max and optimize, so if the evil option is more "efficient" then people will just pick that and the idea of evil being tempting would just fall flat.

I typically pick the good option because it generally seems to be how games are intended to be played. That and the evil choices usually boil down to being edgy and don't allow significant consequences to keep it from significantly affecting the narrative. I'm thinking BioWare games. The exception would be something like Undertale.

I usually pick the good choices on my first play through of an RPG because I always just roleplay as myself the first time and also being evil often locks you out of further quests and such since the quest giver ends up dead or hating you.

The second run I go full scorched earth and be as evil as possible.

I try to make choices that fit with what I think the character would actually do, considering their history and personality. That's usually behaving like a decent, non-murderous person. It's uncomfortable when that isn't the case.

I like being evil in games. Its a combination of curiousity and wanting to see the content that is not supposed the the "intended" experience. So If I do an rpg playthrough I almost always go for the evil route. But I also have always been a fan of the "bad"guys since childhood. Skeletor, Darth Vader, Megatron, Stalin etc.

only one of those is actually a bad guy

I know my favourite "bad" guys are characters that could pass as hero depending on the writer (like Magneto or Dr.Doom)
