It's been feeling like 2007 again, something's obviously wrong under the hood and we're clearly careening out of control but still waiting for the crash.

Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.
Rules:
-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --
Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.
All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body.
If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include not just the twitter.com URL but also Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source (archive.today, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org). Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed.
Mass-tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken Markov chain bot will result in a comm ban.
Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.
Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned.
Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society.
Hypernormalisation [2017]
Literary critique but calling it a "windchill economy" would mean that it's actually worse than the numbers imply. If you have a windchill things aren't "feeling worse then they are". They actually are bad/dangerous but the regular temperature reading wouldn't capture that.
Fitting honestly
Even though pay gains are exceeding overall inflation, the particular prices that are gaining fastest are among the most painful for Americans to absorb. Food, electricity, child care, home prices and rent have all outpaced wage gains over the course of the ’20s. Those items all have a common theme: They’re regular expenses that you can’t avoid.
Bank of America’s deposit data illustrates that divide: Higher-income households’ paychecks grew 4% year-over-year in November — the highest since October 2021 and well above the 3% inflation rate. But middle-income households’ paychecks gained just 2.3% and lower-income households’ wages were up only 1.4% – half the pace of inflation.
What is everyone complaining about the wealthy are doing great???
And, as everyone knows, windchill is just in your head and can't actually hurt you. So just suck it up and stop complaining about how cold it is
reminder that "the economy" translates to "rich people's money"
so yeah things might feel awful but [rich people's money] is doing great actually
"Don't believe your lying eyes or bank account. Things are fine, you're just being entitled when you ask for silly things like food or necessities. Just keep racking up credit card debt for us."
Why not split it into four easy payments? It's just math, proles
if the American government is the abusive cop we're married to consultin the "4th pillar" is like complaining to our mother in law
