I used to be a diehard Metroid fan, but it's been clear for a very long time that the company has no idea what to do with it.
Give Metroid to Fromsoft. Then give whatever they come up with back to Nintendo to rewrite the control scheme.

In a similar vein I’m wondering how the mouse controls are on Switch 2! Curious if Nintendo will put out more stuff that uses that layout. Love the mouse + controller layout when games let me do it on PC.
I bet it runs just fine on Switch 1 though, unless you’re someone that can’t stomach anything less than 60 fps.
I had a leftover game voucher thing that was gifted to me about a year ago, so I'm probably gonna impulse buy it. The dorks on

Given the history of Nintendo and the mythos that comes with that, there’s a lot of Nintendo fanboys that see the modes of the classic games as sacrosanct and to be untouched. So when a new title changes that (Metroid and isolation, in this case) they flip their shit and act like this one little detail completely ruins the game. I find it a bit silly as if anything, Metroid Prime 3 was more of a break from the isolation theme.

I hated that aspect of 3 ever since it came out. 1 was the only truly good Metroid Prime.
My unpopular gaming opinion is that I liked 2 when it came out, but I'm not sure if it would still hold up. I'll have to revisit it sometime. 1 is still far and away the best.
I thought it was too hard and not in a fun way either, also didn't care for the light and dark ammo system.
See also, the petty criticisms of Nintendo reviving the Virtual Boy at all rather than the actual bad aspects of it: tied to subscription service, expensive accessories for it, etc.
